You’re right...it is an old saying. Since Wednesday’s speech by Sarah, however, the word ‘lipstick’ has been very much associated with her. Have you ever heard Obama use that expression before today?

We aren't stupid. Most of us know the old saying. It is YOU who doesn't understand the context in which it was used it what makes it so vile.

No one is claiming that it is an original comment. Delivered 5 days after Sarah Palin gave her speech with her “lipstick!” punchline, it is a direct reference to Sarah Palin as a pig.

Well, I’m nearly 60 and I’ve always, ALWAYS, heard that expression as “You can’t hang earrings on a pig.” LIPSTICK never was part of the equation.
