WSJ/NBC News Poll: Palin Boosts McCain’s Ticket

John McCain’s selection of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate has given the Republican ticket a boost, according to the latest Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll.

More than one-third of respondents, 34%, said Palin makes it more likely for them to vote for McCain.

However, 25% of likely voters said the selection of the Alaska governor makes it less likely they will vote for McCain, while 40% said it makes no difference at all.

On the Democratic ticket, the choice of Delaware Sen. Joe Biden as vice president, has less of an impact, with 58% of voters saying his selection does not make a difference whether or not they will vote for Barack Obama. About one quarter, 24%, said Biden makes them more likely to vote for Obama, while 16% said it makes them less likely to vote for him.

There isn’t anyone saying they are more likely to vote for Barry because of Biden.
That’s just not happening.

Check the demographic weighting to see if an over-sample of Vermont residents was used.

Wall Street in general has changed since the 1990’s when Clintonistas like Robert Rubin came to Washington.

Goldman is very liberal, and the CEO of Morgan Stanley was big for Hillary. The Hedge Funds are Obama country.

I sent them an EMail to that effect last night. I asked them what happened to the credability that used to be associated with the Peacock. I wonder if we have a graphic artist who could depict the NBC Peacock in a pose representative of todays status.

The NBC brand is hopelessly compromised. There poll may be accurate or it may be inaccurate but large majorities of AMericans will discount any thing it says.

However, 25% of likely voters said the selection of the Alaska governor makes it less likely they will vote for McCain

I find this very hard to believe. We have heard many people say that now they will be happy to vote for McCain because of Palin. In fact, I'm one of them. And so are many other Freepers. And so, apparently, are the crowds who have been turning out for McCain's recent appearances.

But have we ever heard anyone say, "I'm not voting for McCain because he chose Palin?" I don't think so. Sure, there might be a few. But not many. I suspect that most or all of the people who gave this answer to the poll never intended to vote for McCain in the first place.

Where did they get the people who said that, I have yet met anyone who changed their vote to vote for 'The Islamic Messiah', because of Sarah being John's running mate!

The only poll that matter is the one on the 4th of November!

Just looking at the poll, I see it was taken Saturday, Sunday and Monday - two weekend days which usually lean Dem when polling. It is also a registered voter poll, so you can add 2-3 points or more to McCain for Likely Voters.

If this is what Obama's camp is crowing about, they are truly whistling past the graveyard...
