Barack Obama’s campaign brushed off suggestions Monday that a verbal gaffe the Democratic candidate made during a weekend television interview is anything more than just that.
In an interview Sunday with ABC’s “This Week” host George Stephanopoulos, Obama tried to suggest that FOX News and others “closely allied” to Republicans are promulgating the notion that the Illinois senator is Muslim.
Asked about whether McCain himself has done anything to suggest he’s Muslim, Obama said, “Let’s not play games. What I was suggesting — you’re absolutely right that John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith. And you’re absolutely right that that has not come…”
“Christian faith,” Stephanopoulos interrupted, correcting Obama.

“After a 19-month, 50-state campaign, Americans know that Barack Obama is a Christian of deep faith who loves this country and believes we must restore its promise,” LaBolt told FOXNews.com.

If you did a psychological study on this guy, he would be an unholy mess. Mom’s dad wanted a boy so he gave her a boy’s name. None of them liked America. Grandfather turns over his formative years to his poker buddy, a communist. And on it goes. This guys life is such a mess that it defies description.
Don’t laugh, but IMO Obama could be jealous of all the support Sarah is getting over the disgusting attacks, this may be now gaffe at all, rather a strategy to say:
“See, they are saying I’m a muslim again, send me money”
Yes, I do believe Obama is that calculating.
However, they CAN bring up his speeches about being your brother’s keeper and then display his pitiful charitable givings. That is fair game.
If he proclaims to be a Christian, as he says he does, anything other than faith in Christ should not have crossed his mind nor slipped past his tongue.
IMHO, that "verbal slip" was confirmation of his true heart.
Furthermore, if he can be rattled that easily into "misspeaking" the polar opposite of what he claims to believe, then what other "revelations" might his words uncover?
Furthermore, if you look at the schedule of donees, NObomba gave only $22k of the 2006 amount to his church . . . the racist TUCC.
He claimed a $13k charitable deduction to “Congressional Black Caucus.” Say what?
$4,700 went to “misc orgnized charities.” Aren’t you supposed to detail out each donee given more than $250?
Oh yeah, and there’s the several thousands given to some “black dance” group.
Real generous with your own money, Obamas. And boy, do you two give to some real people in need. $15,000 to CARE (or should that be CAIR?) and that’s it.
These people are unreal. “Do as we say, not as we do”
Can you imagine what it would be like if Obama were the President? He would need an entourage of spokesmen telling the media what he really meant instead of what he really said! That is, if you can decipher the meaning of his verbiage after you discard all the “uhs.” If you believe that this is high rhetoric and polished speaking, I have some oceanfront property in Arizona I’d like to sell you!
I for one hate “gotcha” politics.
But it’s good to keep this one in mind in case McCain or Palin stumble over their words, which is pretty much inevitable for any candidate in a long campaign.
I am honestly starting to wonder who ghost wrote his books, because nothing indicates to me he is sharp enough to have written anything on his own.
I have never inadvertently referred to my Hindu faith, my Buddhist faith, or my Muslim faith. I am a Christian, and I have never thought those phrases before, let alone said them.
The man was raised to be a Muslim. He says he no longer is. I don’t believe him.

After thinking about this for a while, I think his “gaffe” is deliberate and is meant to appeal to our enemies overseas. It is no secret that his donations have decreased (he is bleeding money) and his chief source of donations came through anonymous internet donations from overseas (This is a loophole that needs to die a quick death, Congress).
By identifying himself as a Muslim, he is winking to our enemies overseas and giving them hope. It was a fund-raising ploy.
You have to have a receipt for everything over $ 250, but you don’t have to detail the donations on your return to the feds...
Obama is our best weapon. He has no message and spends all his time responding to his critics.
At first he was insulted by teasing about his big ears and that was just the first of the long list of whines.
It’s beyond ludicrous. He’s such a foolish lad.
Aw shucks folks, don’t we all misspeak and admit we’re muslins from time to time.
Anyone else find it strange how he never does a double take when corrected, just plows ahead as if nothing happened, or like he has no idea what anything he says means, just how it should be said.
