Governor Sarah Palin! Or, actually, what she signifies.
We've often stated on FR that if the Republicans would only run true conservatives then we'd win more elections. We'd keep the White House, build conservative majorities in congress, replace liberal activist judges with original intent constitutionalists, and eventually overturn Roe v Wade and begin rolling back some of the damage inflicted upon our beloved republic by the socialists and liberals.
John McCain's bold choice of the unabashed pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-liberty, small government, strong defense, fiscal conservative, Sarah Palin, signifies a return to conservatism within the Republican Party.
And the fact that Republicans and conservatives of every stripe, including the Christian right are flocking to her side and that the conservative grassroots has been re-energized literally overnight is proof that when offered the choice of truly conservative candidates, conservatives and Republicans will react accordingly.
Even though I've stated in the past that I would not vote for McCain, I will be supporting this ticket. Governor Palin is a God-fearing, kick butt conservative and I'd much rather have her advising and standing in the wings for the presidency than Joe Biden. I'll definitely pull the lever for her. And I'll do all I possibly can to keep the America-hating Marxist Barack Hussein Obama out of the White House.
Do it for Life. Do it for Liberty. Do it for our troops. Do it for America!

Ridiculous. Please tell me how conservatives held McCain's feet to the fire. I think you used a phrase to make yourself sound important, but you didn't really think about what the words mean.
Actually, there was no course. Along with millions of like-minded conservatives, we were doomed to wander in the wilderness. Now at least there’s a prayer of a chance. And Sarah is an answer to that prayer.
The math eventually made it clear to me. I’ll take a ticket that I can agree with a majority of the time over one that gives zero support for the causes that I deem most important. I am supporting McCain/Palin.
It could just be one issue:
1) Drill, Drill, Drill. or
2) Some Reform theme that would resonate with the voters, like a pledge to eliminate ear-marks from their office. The senator would reach out to allies on both sides of the aisles, host an open discussion before the election, and challenge those running in the fall elections to make commitments.
It might be an early look at what they might be able to do later. If they do it right, nervous candidates will jump on Sarah's coattails to be dragged to victory. After the election, POTUS 44 will have some allies in both houses that saw the train coming down the track and got on before they got ran over.
But they need to get started. They need to be showing something new, something to reflect what will happen in their administration and they need to do it now.
Maintain the momentum, Stay on top of the wave.
Hooah!!
Hooah!!
"2) Some Reform theme that would resonate with the voters, like a pledge to eliminate ear-marks from their office."
I saw a televised McCain-Palin campaign rally yesterday where they were hammering away on both of those items. Even sounded believable.
When I vote I won’t be voting for McCain but for Palin in hopes that she is the future of the party and nation. So if you are still in anti McCain camp proudly vote for Sarah.
I missed that, it’s surprising because I’ve never known Steele to make race an issue.
Lt. Gov Steele needs to have a prominent place in the McCain administration. Coming from Maryland, he can hit the ground running.
I suggest Sen. McCain get some of the potential cabinet picks engaged in the process now. Don't what until after the election. Let people see a picture of what the Reform will look like.
I know his advisors will counsel to hold back, that the only pick he had to make at this point was his VP. But there are other great individuals who can put a face to his plan, like our Sarahcuda.
The Sen needs to turn some of those states around to his side, not just for electoral college votes, but to sweep conservatives into office.
That was a stupid non response. Try reading the post again, cripple. I asked “how conservatives held McCain’s feet to the fire.” If you haven’t got a clue, just say so.
After Palin was announced, it took me about one millisecond to make up my mind.
Has to be the most adroit political move in American history.
Norman,
I and many gave you a LOT of grief when you and 4 or five others were McCain’s only vocal supporters.
While I do not trust McCain as far as conservativism goes, I can cut him big slack for his VP selection.
Hooah.
Hope you’re feeling better Jim.
