Here’s another funny CA nanny state story. (Not that my $400 ticket was funny.)

Last month the new law is speaker-phone only, hands-free, on the cell phone while driving.

So in the past, when my cell rang (always my husband with something non-trivial), I just flipped it open quickly and could answer, no distraction.

Now, I have to look at the phone, find the “soft key,” press it, then press #1, all to find the speaker feature so I can talk hands-free.

Much, much more distracting to me while driving.

I doubt that it is a hit piece. Probably a summation to put the story to bed. Well... probably.

Maybe so, but they are so desperate to sell papers they leak it to Drudge, hoping people buy the papers.

Is “baloney under the door” an exotic method of preparation, like pheasant under glass or pigs in the blanket?

If they have a picture of her changing Trig’s diaper before the speech she will only be ten time more popular. She must be cooler than Joe Montana, in the Super Bowl, with a minute left, and behind.

There is a poll out that Gallup has McCain up by 10% among likely voters. The liberals and their cohorts in the MSM are going to go to any extent to destroy Palin. We have not seen nothing yet.

The more they do this, the higher McCain and Palin go in the polls.

Drudge now reporting his source came from the “Newsroom.”

From the NYT newsroom?

Well, so much for that "tip."

I know that car seats can be a huge hassle...but trust me, unless you have airbags in the front that you can turn off (or have a seat sensor that automatically cuts the airbags off due to low/no weight in the front passenger seat) then she is safer in the back seat. In a small front end impact (think your average fender bender) you could have your bags deploy...even the newer models still come out with a fair amount of impact (enough to hurt a small child...remember she would be at the level of the lower portion of the bag.)

Sorry, but you are just wrong about HIPAA violations. They are used against "covered entities" only. And the NEW YORK TIMES is not a covered entity. They are, at worst the recipient of the information, but they have no legal obligation to keep it a secret.

For example, let's say you and I are neighbors. Our other neighbor is pregnant, and I find that out only because I work for her doctor. It would be illegal for me to tell you, but if I did, it would not then be illegal for you to tell someone else. I am the only one that could be prosecuted in that situation.

LOL, no I suppose it is a good idea. I just remember simpler times I guess. Like when someone’s mom would drive the entire neighborhood home in one station wagon.

“Now on Drudge its been downgraded from expose to “detailed story”.”

Whatever happened to drudge’s bragging rights of the # of hits his site gets? It’s gone, but I visit drudge so rarely I never even missed it until today...

Methinks drudge has become a dinosaur, increasingly irrelevant, and has his last-gasp ways at trolling for hits, and this may just be one of them

I went back and looked and I’m not sure I agree with you. Lots of places it talks about covered persons and entities and there are other penalty sections. This penalty section is different especially since it applies to “any person”. Not any person who is covered by the act or works for a covered entity. If I don’t work for a covered entity and I steal your medical records and sell them to the NY Times then by your logic I’d be home free except for the theft angle. The actual value of the paper file is questionable especially if I copied it rather than taking the file itself.

Drudge BTW has changed his link it no longer uses the word expose. It now says: “NYT PREPARES TO FRONT DETAILED STORY ON PALIN’S BABY, NEWSROOM SOURCES TELL DRUDGE... DEVELOPING...” That takes away the negative connotation of expose, but it still might include medical record info maybe on the baby.

“remember she would be at the level of the lower portion of the bag”

OK, so the image of Helen Thomas immediately popped into my head. NO NEED to reinforce same. Am I deranged?

"Those people" are not only crazed, they are unintelligent. A runner's body will have a tight tummy and a pregnancy won't show that much. It's obvious that Sarah Palin takes care of herself.

Obviously left wing liberals don't run much. And they are uncouth, have no pride of appearance, and smell funny from eating all those vegetables and no meat.
