A week ago, most Americans had never heard of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. Now, following a Vice Presidential acceptance speech viewed live by more than 40 million people, Palin is viewed favorably by 58% of American voters. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 37% hold an unfavorable view of the self-described hockey mom.
The figures include 40% with a Very Favorable opinion of Palin and 18% with a Very Unfavorable view (full demographic crosstabs are available for Premium Members). Before her acceptance speech, Palin was viewed favorably by 52%. A week ago, 67% had never heard of her.
The new data also shows significant increases in the number who say McCain made the right choice and the number who say Palin is ready to be President. Generally, John McCains choice of Palin earns slightly better reviews than Barack Obamas choice of Joe Biden.
Perhaps most stunning is the fact that Palins favorable ratings are now a point higher than either man at the top of the Presidential tickets this year. As of Friday morning, Obama and McCain are each viewed favorably by 57% of voters. Biden is viewed favorably by 48%.
McCain and the GOP better not overextend here
TWO months till the election play it cool
"We're gonna be like two little Fonzies here."
Excellent and scary breakdown of Ratbots.
“OWE! Thatll leave a mark. He must love you a lot if he accepts that wise crack.”
Actually, I feel the same way. And we’re both Goldwater and Reagan people. He jokes that he was probably the only school teacher on Long Island that voted for Goldwater and Reagan.
Wonder if there’s a story behind that photo...what was the photographer doing meanwhile? Besides getting that great shot.
LONG ISLAND!!! Isn’t that hostile/enemy territory??
Very brave people.
Reagan Independents, too!
Yes, there was. It turned out that that was actually Al Gore dressed up in a polar bear suit. He was trying to scare that guy in the SUV out of there so that he could fly away in his jumbo jet without anyone seeing him. However, unknown to Gore, there was a photographer with a long telephoto lens some distance away who capture the whole event.

Yes, it was. But he’s been in Florida more than 25 years now and is more Southern than Gen. Robert E. Lee and is a Confederate re-enactor.
Damn! Now I wish I had a subscription so that I could cancel it!

LOL! Me too!
There’s a thread up telling everyone to go to your supermarket magazine rack, take the subscription cards out of the magazine (postage paid), fill them out...send them in then cancel.
Hee hee-—in Megyn’s interview, the editor sure stumbled on his words trying to explain the “lies.”
Here it is, in print:

Oh, that is a great ideal...I’ll do that tonite! Lol!
lets hope that number goes to 50,000...but 10,000 will do in this economy......a 10,000 drop is very significant.
There are many reports of Palin gear flying off the shelves. I have heard two reports of eyeglass suppliers who cannot keep up with the demand for Palin style glasses. That is a true gauge of her popularity. I remember when JFK was elected, men quit using Brylcream, Vitalis and other hair oil “junk.” JFK went to the inauguration bear headed and the hat undustry tanked.
Obama is in deep doo-doo and he knows it.
With both conventions now over, who are you voting for?
McCain-Palin
80%
Obama-Biden
14%
Won’t Vote
6%
votes: 1422
A local paper printed the story and indentified her - the "public right to know." They were bankrupt within days - infuriated subscribers canceled by the hundreds.
