He has to do that to get the mid line voters. You of all people know that.But he is doing it at the expense of his base. Palin united the party and now McCain is reminding us why we were split in the first place. McCain became the presumptive nominee of the party with 31% of the vote. He must realize that he needs to unite the party first.

Palin has united the party, why would we all run off again just because McCain is being what McCain has always been? And he does change his position when presented with the facts: offshore drilling is an example; build the fence first is another.
