she and several friends in AK decided to apply and attend the same college in Hawaii since they were a bit daunted about going away from their small town, I guess. A couple of them transferred right away to a different Hawaii college... sarah didn’t think she was getting a good ed there, either. she and one of them went the next year to idaho(?) college... still not quite right for her major she decided, and she went alone to the college she got her degree at.
This from memory... kind of an understandable situation, in many ways.
Mary is going to run for Governor in 2010 the way it looks. I talked to her at the OK GOP Convention about the chance which is pretty good.

Newest MSNBC blather: if the folks at the convention get loud and fired up tonight during McCain’s speech, that means he didn’t do what he was supposed to do! Do you believe this???? You know darn well they WILL be fired up, MSNBC HATES that fact and so they are already spinning it to make it look bad for Mccain, UNBELIVABLE! This was out of the mouth of that buffoon with Brokaw. I don’t live in Mary’s district but I have her bumperstrip on my car with Sen McCain’s. The Chair of NRCC is my Congressman so I have adopted Mary as mine.
I hope she’s a tough campaigner and does great. Get that goon Henry (well, okay, he’s pro-gun) out of there, and blast the Dems back to the stone age. An opportunity was lost when Steve Largent forgot to campaign!
