Okay, you organize it. Figure out, logistically how to export 12-20 million illegals.

I don’t like that they broke the law to get here. I think we should make it unattactive for them to come (i.e., crack down on the ones giving them jobs and make the penalties stiff). But rounding them up will be a nightmare. And, it will hurt our economy. There has to be a happy medium, erring on the side of the law. But the first thing we need to do is lock down the border and secure it. That’s doable. The rest, we can figure out. Stop the bleeding first.

Active duty NO! Retired, Yes. Don’t know why. Just is so.

DoD Directive 1344.10

A member of the armed forces on active duty may attend political rallies or conventions while NOT in uniform.

Do you think that is the way God dispenses his grace and mercy? Do you think God's wrath is placated by the fact that Europe may have more abortions per capita than the United States?

Uh, no, but it was worded as if the US is soooo evil. Of course we can and should strive to be better. I just wanted to know if the US were more evil than other countries. I'm tired of hearing how evil the US is, that's all.

I always give Graham a lot of slack for that reason. At least he didn't take Bob Barr's path

Yes...Graham may have done lots of things, but advocating smaller, less-intrusive government would never be forgiven on FR these days.

Scooter my arse!

I’m still young enough to push myself in a manual, and probably tough enough to outrun you too!

I won 2 golds (rifle and archery), a silver and bronze (javelin and shot put) at the National Veterans Wheelchair Games in Omaha this year! So don’t go putting me in a scooter just yet!

And yes, it’s very cool that Sarah is representing hockey in such a fine manner! Easy on the eyes too!

I will vote for a pro-life liberal over a pro-abortion conservative any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

I tend to agree, but how often does this sort of contest happen?

You don't have to send them all back at once. When you find one, send them home. Stop this catch and release business. A little at a time is better than doing NOTHING, and amend that Constitution, pronto!

Ann Curry briefly was allowed to report on NBC and said that from her perspective in the floor, many were crying in the audience......and I don’t think just GOP people were doing that.

The end of his speech just totally got me......I am fully on board now.....for McCain, not for Palin, but for him, too.

Abortion is EVIL. If you do not agree, then you are evil.

How's that?

If we as a nation condone it or encourage it, then we deserve judgment. It frankly doesn't matter that we don't abort as many babies as China or Germany or Russia. Any country that devalues human life to the point that they abort their posterity is guilty of genocide.

I pray that America has not lost its traditional values or religious roots, but if we have, then we should not be surprised if God's hedge of protection is removed and we, as a nation, become the objects of his wrath.

Frankly when I made my comments about the overplaying by the convention of McCains heroic journey I thought I was prepared (and I was) to start an energetic but intelligent conversation. To those who disagreed but wanted an honest debate

I responded with civil comments.

Please review my responses on this thread and see. However I will give abusive, juvenile comments the respect they deserve. And those making them shouldn't whine when I "double down" with more stinging attacks of my own towards them. Those whose only contribution were uncivil, i.e."Shut up" "Go back to Du, etc.,

I don't question airborne as an American patriot and veteran, but he crosses the line of civil conversation when he tells me to “shut up” instead of giving an intelligent response to my comments. The same for Jennyscool.

As for me being a "commie elitist", well, that is just a pathetic joke to anyone who has read the history of my comments.

I am a proud Southerner who takes great offensive at those, who without even knowing me, question my patriotism

However, I must confess I am a "red" . As in redneck and red beard. In time I may have to change my FR name to"Grey"Monque I never attacked anyone who merely disagreed with my views and I hope you do so as well.

Were there parts that were boring and he spoke without much enthusiasm? YES.

Were there parts in which he was enthused, emotional, and connected with us very well? YES.

Considering his strong suit is not speeches, he did damn good. There were times he was smiling, enthusiastic and really connecting with the camera.

We need to keep in mind Republicans are just not known for good speech-making. It is not typically something Republican presidents do well.

Reagan did, but for the most part, we have sucky speakers. So what? They do other things well.

Now, I am more concerned about that issue this year because of Obama.

But, I think Palin will counter that enough.

If I were in a safe republican district (you know the kind that has no democrat challengers) and my republican representative were pro-abortion, I would strongly consider switching parties and running against him as a pro-life democrat.

Issues of taxes, spending, illegal immigration, and other domestic issues all pale in comparison to the issue of the genocide of our posterity. 50 million Americans cut off in the womb. That is the equivalent of everyone who died in WWII on all sides. That is what we have done to our posterity.

The Constitution guarantees the blessings of liberty to ourselves AND OUR POSTERITY, and yet we have willy nilly aborted our posterity and sacrificed our children on the altar of economic prosperity.

I’m opposed to abortion. You obviously choose to ignore my question and I think I know why so let’s just let it go at that.

The convention speech is not supposed to be a laundry list of specifics......just general ideas and lofty themes.

That is what he did.

Debates are for specifics.

I asked Jim Robinson what Palin’s position on immigration was. He said that Laura Ingraham said that Palin was against amnesty, and I have heard that from other FReepers. I don’t expect Palin to make any future anti-amnesty statements, since that contradicts what McCain wants to do.

If McCain is elected, IMO Palin will be expected, at a minimum, to shut up while McCain pushes amnesty, or even to back McCain on amnesty. That’s just my opinion, we’ll see.

Obama is at least as bad on amnesty, maybe worse.
