Excerpts: Remarks by Alaska Governor Sarah Palin Vice Presidential Nominee to Address the 2008 Republican National Convention
SAINT PAUL, Minn. - This evening Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republican Partys vice presidential nominee, will address the 2008 Republican National Convention. Excerpts from the governors remarks, as prepared for delivery, are below.
On her experience as a public servant:
"I had the privilege of living most of my life in a small town. I was just your average hockey mom, and signed up for the PTA because I wanted to make my kids public education better. When I ran for city council, I didnt need focus groups and voter profiles because I knew those voters, and knew their families, too. Before I became governor of the great state of Alaska, I was mayor of my hometown. And since our opponents in this presidential election seem to look down on that experience, let me explain to them what the job involves. I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a community organizer, except that you have actual responsibilities."
On why she is going to Washington, D.C.:
"Im not a member of the permanent political establishment. And Ive learned quickly, these past few days, that if youre not a member in good standing of the Washington elite, then some in the media consider a candidate unqualified for that reason alone. But heres a little news flash for all those reporters and commentators: Im not going to Washington to seek their good opinion - Im going to Washington to serve the people of this country."
On energy policies that the McCain-Palin administration will implement:
"Our opponents say, again and again, that drilling will not solve all of Americas energy problems - as if we all didnt know that already. But the fact that drilling wont solve every problem is no excuse to do nothing at all. Starting in January, in a McCain-Palin administration, were going to lay more pipelines...build more nuclear plants...create jobs with clean coal...and move forward on solar, wind, geothermal, and other alternative sources. We need American energy resources, brought to you by American ingenuity, and produced by American workers."
On John McCain:
"Heres how I look at the choice Americans face in this election. In politics, there are some candidates who use change to promote their careers. And then there are those, like John McCain, who use their careers to promote change."
I’m sorry, but I would have told the media, and I mean all the media, you want to the speech? Governor Palin goes on at 9PM CDT (or is it 8PM MDT?). Watch and listen. We don’t do your job for you.
“I found this photo of Barak during his “community organizer” days:”
LOL. I think that pic was when he was finishing up as community organizer and beginning to train with his bomb making buddy Bill Ayers.
Getting ready to pop the corn here in deep-blue Connecticut. Rumor has it there may be other closet conservatives here... hope so.
Well, I’m a conservative in CT but I sure the hell ain’t in no closet. :-}
My mother says it is the new politically correct term for someone who was at one time referred to as a “rabble rouser”.
Hussein Obama lost 2 pts since yesterday. After tonight, he stands to lose even more....
See my post 66. My 75 year old mother has a good handle on what he did.
Sweeeeet!
In other words, a person who was not very nice to be involved with, eh?
Actually, JJ Walker is a Conservative, and has been quite vocal about it for a number of years.
Yep, a trouble maker, a pot stirrer.
Oh how I wish she would gaze up to the skyboxes and say, “Now to the boys in the skyboxes. Boys, let me say, it’s not up to you, but to a woman and her family, how she balances her career and her family. And it’s up the American people, not you, who decides who will be the next president of the United States of America.”
” My family and I have been the subject of some very energetic and intense investigation by our free press. The press has the responsibility to inform us, and they have done their job in my case.
There are those on the conservative side that say this intense investigation is further evidence of liberal bias by the media. The media has a golden opportunity to either confirm this or contradict it.
They can contradict it by expending equal energy on investigating Barack Obama. I would suggest a thorough reporting of his associations with convicted felon Rezko, William Ayers, obtaining a genuine birth certificate, and examining the contents of the Anneberg Challenge papers as a start.
If the media lets these investigations pass, it will become obvious to even the least informed of the populace that the media is strongly biased for Obama. This will destroy the credibility of the media for a generation.”
This challenge would send most of the media into a frenzy. I can only hope.
And I bet the excerpts she didn’t release will be even more stunning....WOW! I LOVE IT TOO!!:) GO SARAH!
Oh man, I can’t wait to see the Sarah-Cudda smackdown tonight!
I wanted to make the following my new tagline, but it is too long!
“...a small-town mayor is sort of like a community organizer, except that you have actual responsibilities.”
