Yes, the HOA rules are stupid, but the biggest idiot is the guy who moved into a neighborhood with an HOA and did not know its rules.

I don’t know what kind of area he lives in, but many upscale neighborhood HOAs have these kinds of restrictions. It’s his responsibility to know that when he buys the house, then truck.
I’m not a big HOA fan... most are ruled by do-gooders who want to tinker in everyone else’s lives. However, rules are rules.

You should read the regulations before you buy. I live in a homeowners associations and we constantly try to keep the place looking nice.
Again, don't move into a place with a HOA if you don't want to follow the rules.

You gotta read those CC&R’s before buying a house anymore. Especially if there’s an HOA staffed by fugitive Nazi war criminals...which is most all of them.

A lot of urban city folks move into these enclaves when they relocate into the rural areas. They want all the inconveniences of the city they just left, including rules and regulations telling everybody what they can and can't do. The result is inane regulations like this one.
A VERY GOOD reason to avoid communities run by these people.

His F-150 is actually pretty nice.
Nicer than the most expensive Honda Ridgeline I have ever seen.
I park my '98 Cummins Ram outside sometimes and my neighborhood in Southlake is much more upscale than ANY neighborhood in Frisco.

I would far rather live in a van down by the river than under an HOA.

Simple, if the rule is not being equally enforced, write a letter to the board informing them of their selective enforcement practices and ask for a written explanation. Mention that if they do not enforce the rules equitably you will turn the matter over to their attorney should they impose a fine. Take pictures.
If you are correct their attorney will tell them to snap out of it. Unfortunately if they enforce the rules equally, you'll still have to move your truck.

Is his pick up a commerical vehicle? If so, most HOAs have this restriction.
Besides, he bought into the house without reading the CC&Rs! Stupid!

I overheard some HOA clowns talking the other day. Crazy middle-aged women with nothing better to do.
They were terrified the “neighborhood was going down” because someone parked a car outside that wasn’t to their standards. They instantly think that someone is renting part of the house to someone from the “unwashed” class. Repeating what they said after that would get me banned.
They were saying “we should be able to do something”. I hope they don’t see this article.

I’m really surprised at how many Freepers seem to support these HOA Nazis. You can park a Honda in your driveway, but not a Ford?

What if he bought a Sierra Denali instead? That is a luxary pickup that is a real pickup unlike the ridgeline or avalanche. They allow the lincoln mark lt.

Funny HOA story told by our Realtor....about a HOA in Salem, OREGON.....a guy walked to his paper box in his bathrobe to get his paper.....and got a letter telling him doing that was “against the rules.” SOOOOOO.....next time....he walked to the paper box....BUCK NAKED!

This is a suburb of Dallas.
If it were a suburb of Fort Worth, the HOA would REQUIRE a pickup on the driveway.
