Dr. James C. Dobson of Focus on the Family issued the following statement:
"In the 32-year history of Focus on the Family, we have offered prayer, counseling and resource assistance to tens of thousands of parents and children in the same situation the Palins are now facing. We have always encouraged the parents to love and support their children and always advised the girls to see their pregnancies through, even though there will of course be challenges along the way. That is what the Palins are doing, and they should be commended once again for not just talking about their pro-life and pro-family values, but living them out even in the midst of trying circumstances.
"Being a Christian does not mean you're perfect. Nor does it mean your children are perfect. But it does mean there is forgiveness and restoration when we confess our imperfections to the Lord. I've been the beneficiary of that forgiveness and restoration in my own life countless times, as I'm sure the Palins have.
"The media are already trying to spin this as evidence Gov. Palin is a 'hypocrite,' but all it really means is that she and her family are human. They are in my prayers and those of millions of Americans."

The moralizers who use their religion to condemn others are called pharisees. Most of them couldn’t stand five minutes of similar scrutiny of themselves and their families. Many have concealed wickedness of their own.
God bless the Palin’s. God bless Bristol’s child.
I’m not generally a Dobson fan but in this case his response was exactly correct, both from a political standpoint and theologically.
Now please stop stirring the Board for an issue that does not exist. The christian conservative base is very pleased with this pick, Dr Dobson echoes the Christian conservative base.
Please, you like Sara Palin, so all those positives are still there for us to show the American people, not one of them is changed by this private family matter
I had that revelation several years ago when I had a conversation with a friend of my Grandmother, he is a Catholic Priest on Active Duty. We were talking about teen pregnancy. That thought came to me right out of the blue. Babies are the true innocents and should never be judged or labeled for the actions of their parents.
This whole thing just makes me like Mrs. Palin even more. What an incredibly supportive, loving family. They are not taking her to have an abortion and hiding her away. Bristol is in for a reality check but she has some incredible role models to help! We’ll pray for her and her fiance. I’m sure they’ll be fine!
MOST?
;-)
He is a Christian psychologist, he was Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at University of Southern California School of Medicine for 14 years...
..for over 20 years he has had a radio program listened to by approximately 24 million in 164 countries....Focus on the Family!
He is a sought after lecturer, author of many books on child rearing and a gracious & patriotic gentleman.
Nope. The marriage had not been consumated. Joseph still had the option to put Mary away without marrying her.
That’s why Mary was said to be pledged to be married. Their intent was to marry, and their obligation was to act as if married, but Joseph still had the option to call it off.
I couldn’t agree more!
I think the leftist blog glee over this really indicates how out of touch they are. Their thought process is “Christian conservatives will think badly of Governor Palin because her daughter obviously had out of wedlock sex”. The reality is that such people fully understand that you do what you can to teach your kids, but nobody’s perfect (as Dobson noted).
What the conservatives see is that Governor Palin and her husband didn’t seek the easy way out, didn’t betray their principles, and will welcome their grandchild (nor with their Down Syndrome child). They will see this as a positive for Palin. But because the nut roots have such a distorted view of Christians and conservatives, they’ll keep on pounding away at this story, not realizing that it will backfire on them.
Amen. I hope the Palin’s remember this while they are fired upon by the MSM, “This too shall pass.”:)
Amen.
We in America are being given such an open and shut case of choosing a culture of life over a culture of death.
The candidate for the presidency from the Dem's has an even more pro abortion rating that NARAL to the point of supporting infanticide and view unintended pregnancies as a punishment.
His VP pick although claiming to be Catholic has supported all abortion bills presented before him
On the other hand, we have a Presidential candidate, who literally was handed his adopted daughter by Mother Teresa (soon to be saint)
Our VP candidate refuses to abort her son when told that he will have Down's Syndrome and who has encourage her daughter to give birth to child.
It can not be a coincidence.
Just the "elect".
Well, maybe not Mary...but The Old Testament is almost like soap opera with the children born out of wedlock.
Ishmael, Isaac, et. al.
Dealing with her own pregnancy of a Downs Syndrome baby, Gov. Palin gets the news of her daughter’s pregnancy, yet she carries on with her duties to both family and her state.
What an incredible woman!
Amen!
Sounds like Dobson is playing a little CYA here...
Funny how all the McCainiacs who were blasting Dobson before now love him because he said it was OK to pick a VP candidate who has a knocked up daughter.
The fact that Dobson and his people did a poor job vetting Palin isnt going to sit well in the real Christian conservative community.
Also, the fact that this was hid for days after the Palin announcement shows that all involved in choosing Palin knew this would be a problem...or else this would have been mentioned Friday
Its sad to see Free Republic turn into DU....I mean people here are supporting a George Soros-funded liberal for President who has picked a VP candidate w a pregnant daughter...and tried to hide that from everyone
