ST. PAUL -- The 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is pregnant, Palin said on Monday in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.

That, is just what they are saying.
I hate to even mention this, but doesn’t anybody realize what they’re going to say about the 2006 picture of Bristol?
My son was 5 months old when I married his father. You critize Palin, you are critizing thousands of families who have faced this issue, had there babies and stayed together as a family. For me it’s been 20 years.
There was no hurricane raging ashore on Day 1.
Evangelical with capital.
Well, I am off to send emails to the McCain campaign to let them know that I am not bailing on the Palin family, or the McCain campaign. Me, my thoughts, prayers and support are sticking with all of them. Lord knows, they need them.
Tatt
The most shameful aspect of this announcement, besides a gross invasion of privacy, is we still do not know what Chelsea was doing at 17, as we shouldn’t.
It seems only conservative families must be drug through the mud and ringer over family private matters.
ANYONE who thinks that McCain choosing Palin with this hanging over the campaign was a good move, needs to have their head examined. ASAP.

And anyone who thinks that Palin should crawl away with her head tucked between her legs (and resign), needs to have their head examined. ASAP.
***Remember noonan said it best the foes of the republicans will try and kill palin and kill her fast.***
Not to mention the-holier-than-thou-perfection-demanding-shoot-your-own-wounded-know-it-all Right Wing Extremists.
(yes folks, you CAN go too far right)
Precisely!
McCain hasn’t lost this social conservative and evangelical. Palin is a great choice for VP and Bristol being pregnant doesn’t change my opinion. We are in the ministry of reconciliation and grace. At this time this family is choosing to do the right thing before the Lord.
Yeah, go ahead and post your long list for the hundreth time so everyone can see your true colors.
You must be truly an unhappy person to get this much joy from other people’s heartache or hardship.
Problem is the jokes oln you, as McCain knew about this and secondly her daughter plans on marrying the father.
I think McCain’s choice to put her on the ticket despite this says alot about McCain. Many think of Republicans as self-righteous and judgemental. This goes a long way toward showing that we aren’t.
Couple that with the fact that we have a woman on the ticket and the libs don’t and it seems that McCain will actually help the Republican “brand” (I hate the term but it IS descriptive) instead of hurt it.
First teen, unwed pregnancies should always be a scandal. If that isn’t the case anymore, then I truly feel sorry for this country.
Secondly, it was hidden until today. If the information would have been put out before Palin was picked as VP, it would not have matter. However, there were rumors all over the internet all weekend long, and this has been blown into a huge event.
It was not handled well in my opinion.
Maybe Bristol's child was conceived around the time Palin delivered her baby.
We should bring back chaperoning./s
This is probably the most important moment of the entire pro-life movement. This is what it’s all been about.
A Presidential and Vice-Presidential candidate of the entire United States of America are demonstrating that the unwed mother is loved, and that it’s OK to have the baby.
This is enormous!
I’m not playing the Democrats’ game. We all know teenagers can get pregnant, and their daughters can get pregnant just like anyone else’s. As for how it’s handled, I’d say the Palins are handling it just fine. And how they handle it is nobody else’s business.
Now, prepare yourself for snide remarks in the media from sleazy Democrats.
“Trig was born in april. Ample time for her to get knocked up again.”
Uh, no, I am currently 5 months pregnant and I got pregnant in April....
I’m in, great idea, let’s organize it and get started now.
