ST. PAUL -- The 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is pregnant, Palin said on Monday in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.

I have already heard some things that might come up re her wanting Alaska's independence similar to Kosovo

Actually, I would consider that a plus! I think our political problems here are reaching the unfixable stage and starting over with a real conservative government somewhere would be ideal. ;)

My dismay over this entire ‘revelation’ was the few in our ranks who wanted to tar and feather the girl and her mother.

I’m not excusing what happened. Good grief. However, I want to show the Palins forgiveness. Heaven knows I sure could use some in my life. My desire is to see this family move forward as best they can. I want Bristol Palin to become a beacon for other teens to practice abstinance or if the worst does happen, to show maturity by taking responsibility and not taking the EASY WAY OUT. I want positive things to come from this but for that to happen, there are people on our side who need to unbutton their collars and suck in some air.

Yes, Bristol Palin sinned. Haven’t we all. Yes her pregnancy is a mark on the family. I don’t know too many families in this day and age mark free—including Christian families. This young seventeen-year-old instead of having an abortion or giving up her child, is instead sacrificing the remainder of her youth to become a wife and a mother. That is atonement.

Its a sorry day when those on our side chose to pillory the family. Some of the disgusting remarks I’ve read on this site demonstrate that the stereotypes of intolerance & rigid thinking aren’t too far removed from the truth. The libs are wringing their hands and salivating with glee hoping Christians will devour each other over this.

Sara Palin has my vote; her daughter has my empathy; her family has my support. Where do you stand?

You honestly think adoptive children would prefer to be with blood, even if they had a loving adoptive home? What is so special about blood?

You keep quoting out of context.

I’m done. It’s like trying to have an intelligent discussion with a liberal.

Not fair for you to lump them in the “fail” group.

Lucky for them, your opinion has no bearing on their decision.

True on #1. But I'm a big believer in giving a child the best possible chance. And on #2, just had to throw in a snide comment, didn't you?

Anyone McCain picked would be exposed to attacks, with a *few* third party malcontents here joining in. The pick is never going to be perfect, but why don't you tell us your pick and why it would help McCain. Also realize that your hypothetical pick won't go through the media wringer.

You have a point. Looking down the list of possibilities, I see many who are not conservative enough to mobilize the base, and some who have no interest in running with McCain.

He could have picked Huntsman, for example, the governor of Utah, who had experience in Reagan's White House staff before being ambassador to Singapore under GHWBush. He also did missonary work in Taiwan and speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese.

But, his dad was a billionaire, he's a Mormon who isn't Romney, and he has no vagina, so I'm not sure who would be excited by the pick.

Why on earth did we need to know at all
///////////////
Because teenage unwed pregnancy is bad. It was going to be attacked by the regressives and Palin was picked exactly because she seemed like someone who stood for Strong family values, someone we could count on to be credible on these issues.... but it is WATER UNDER THE BRIDGE.

McCain knew about it and has planned an ambush and counterattack for the regressives.

I would have done it differently. I would have leaked it to the press 10 days before, but we will skin this cat with McCains knife not my machete.

Well I don't know if you've noticed this here situation we have CottonBall, but there are 2 choices.

1.OsamaObama
2.McCain

Pick one--'cause there ain't no viable #3!!!!

You can whine. You can gripe. You can cry--all. day. long. But one of them is going to win. Sorry your guy wasn't picked (well not really)

Choosing to sit home or vote for a "protest" candidate will give the advantage to the RATS. But it's fairly clear that some people are more interested in the advancement of their own personal agenda.

So...Barrack HUSSEIN Obama hangs out with domestic terrorists, has ZERO experience other than being a commie organizer in the Saul Alinsky mode, has an extremely shady political past (and present), has direct financial ties to international communist George Soros, has an idiot blowhard for a VP running mate, and fronts the largest subversive political party in the US...and that’s OK.

But the Republican Governor VP-candidate has a pregnant daughter....Now THAT’S big news.

Oh...makes sense to me...I guess...kinda sorta....maybe..

That's what most people are thinking. Plus, there's no way the left can get any traction on any "dilemma" about whether to keep the baby or not...not in the Palin house!

The left is done over this. They simply can't get traction on anything that anybody is even remotely interested in. The only people listening to them are themselves. They should just shut up and accept the fact that they've lost. Too many have now swung over to Palin and that other guy. :-)

But you cannot sit there and tell me a child would rather grow up in an adoptive loving family than their blood loving family.

An intact, stable blood loving family does not have the need to put a child up for adoption. You're comparing fuji to gala, when the true comparison is fuji to valencia.

"I don’t have an agenda here. I do think McCain cannot be trusted. That’s all."

Let me help you here....

You think McCain cannot be trusted. You're out to prove that point by undermining his VP choice. That's called an agenda - to convince others McCain cannot be trusted.

Why not own up to it? I have much more respect for folks who simply put out in front exactly what they're trying to do rather than throwing red herring after red herring in the way.

But this holier than thou approach towards the VP-candidate's family is odd. I'm sure if we looked hard, we could find problems with your family and mine and virtually anyone else which, if presented in the appropriate light, could undermine you as a conservative.

Guess you ran out of intelligent things to say already (I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt that you ever had any).

There is more. There are drinking pictures out today already. They were taken at several parties. Bristol Palin is holding a very large bottle of rum in one of them.

I haven't seen the pic's, but other bloggers out there say it isn't her picture.

We didn’t need to know. Some things are none of our business. And I only know of ONE who is qualified to judge people on these things. But He doesn’t post here.

I'm not undermining her as a candidate. I still don't know who she is as a candidate and where she stands on issues, particularly those that McCain is liberal on.

I'm not blinded by the fact that she is not the messiah and there are issues to deal with and accept. Insulting me doesn't make those go away. It just makes you seem more liberal.

You haven’t been reading my posts on this thread and many others.

I’m solidly supportive of Bristol’s decision to raise the baby. I’m proud of the 2 for their decision to firm up their commitment to one another in public marriage. My prayers are with them as they grow together.

I can’t help but notice, though, that this girl is fully mature. Anyone looking at her can see that she’s a woman and not a little girl. She is also 17.

We make no provision for fully mature late teens to satisfy themselves in the bonds of marriage. Even those who choose to do so are ridiculed for “throwing their lives away,” as if the entire plan of the universe is for kids to attend college, delay sexuality, become professionals, settle on an appropriately successful mate, and then settle in to satisfy those sexual urges that had been with them for over a decade.

I don’t think it’s entirely realistic for us to bad-mouth the marriages and the opportunities of the physically mature young who are among us.

Bottom line: Sarah Palin has my vote.

I don't think He thinks we should all have no values, judgement, or morals - that would make us vote Democrat. (I'll bet you'd be happy to post about sleazy stuff on the other side. That's called 'hypocrit' and you're using your supposed religion to brush any problems on your side under the rug.)

I’ve seen the boy’s myspace page. He seems like he will resent giving up his hockey dreams and his nights with the guys. I have teen boys. I truly truly hope and pray he grows up and can be a dad. But I bet that his parents are going to do a lot of the heavy lifting. And the odds that these two are going to make a go of marriage are slim. I don’t consider teenagers thrust into marriage an intact family. They might stay together for a while, but. . .it would be far better, even if they married young, to have a couple of years to stabilize the marriage before a baby.

I know of many, many couples that could offer that child a great home. I just don’t understand the resistance to adoption.

. Don't you think the media feeding frenzy would sink Senator X as a candidate?
//////////////////
If Senator X can't defend appropriately then yes. Thats the test. A politico must be able to articulate reasons for their actions. If senator X can defend her/himself then they make the team.

Time for that testing is BEFORE you put them on the team.

But thats WATER UNDER THE BRIDGE NOW. I think McCain had contingency plans in place to ambush and counterattack the regressives on this, since their modus ops are Soviet Style - very reactionary and easily manipulated.
