ST. PAUL -- The 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is pregnant, Palin said on Monday in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.

Y’know, that’s a good point. I’d hate to see Lynne Spears on any ticket, but would I hate to see her more than I hate to see Obama, who has approximately four months’ tenure in the Senate than I do?

Well, I'd hate to see her more than I hate to see Obama too, but wouldn't it make a great "Hollywood ending" if Lynne Spears ran for mayor of their hometown of Kentland, Louisiana and then ran for Governor of the state (I think that the Spears family in general are Republicans, although I'm not so sure of Britney's party affiliation (nor do I really care) nor Jamie Lynn's for that matter - which would be irrelevant anyhow given that she's not legally eligible to vote).

Anyhoo, perhaps a future ticket that looked like this:

SARAH PALIN - LYNNE SPEARS IN 2012!

ONE COUNTRY - TWO COOL GRANDMAS!

I don’t think that it is a bad thing necessarily for a teen to use birth control - though it is likely to encourage promiscuity. My point, however, was that Xena has been super upset about Bristol’s pregnany. So, upset that she was talking about the need to shame Bristal and girls like her. Then she admits to having had pre-marital sex herself but seems to think that that was somehow different because she used birth control didn’t get pregnant. Sorry but using birth control doesn’t make someone morally superior.

So, your indignation seemed to be more over the fact that she had gotten pregnant than that she had had premarital sex.

No, she seems to be passing judgement on that too. See post #2065

What was the mother thinking not having her on some form of birth control?

She was probably thinking she didn't want to pollute her daughter's system--and mind--with birth-control hormones.

I guess you didn’t read the post I responded to. He said Onan referred to birth control and I corrected him, hense my “Onan disobeyed God’s direct command”.

Premarital sex is a mistake not the resultant pregnancy. Some people cover up the mistake of sex by abortion. We all make mistakes (sin), the result of some sin is just more public than others. Although some people on here seem to be saying that the sex is fine but that you shouldnt get yourself knocked up.

You are all over this forum judging Sarah Palin's daughter and how disgracefull her actions are, and judging Sarah FOR her daughter's actions, and judging McCain for picking Palin and you post this?

"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye."

What a hoot!

...I don’t see anything about birth control in the scripture.

The pill often acts as an abortifacient. The IUD always does. Can you find Exodus 20:13?

When Reagan ran against Carter, I was 11. How on earth could I posit what I would have done at that time were I older?

Geez, you are avoiding the question. I didn't ask what you would have done back then when you were 11 years-old. I'm asking you if Reagan was running TODAY, given his marital status when Patti was conceived, would you vote for Reagan today?

RE: “How can Sarah Palin be supportive of her daughter while she is off campaigning or working in Washington??????????

Oh, she sends her checks. That’s real supportive.

A supportive mom would be babysitting and helping around the house.”

You sound like you are living in 1955!!!!! Pregnant teens or not, mothers these days are most likely working outside the home; doesn’t sound like something you are familiar with.

And just how is it that you KNOW what goes on in the Palin household and how they support their children? You have zero clue yet intuit somehow that Sarah merely sends her kids checks while she is out campaigning and such. Give it a rest.

This thread is getting old. I'm 41, my first two kids were born unmarried. My first is a 13 year old who lives in Maryland, the other two, one is my wife's, are here with us. We are married now and as coincidence would have it, we are having our first planned child tomorrow. My wife is being induced in the morning.

Who gives a frogs fat ass that the Governors daughter is pregnant? Kids make mistakes, thats what they do. In this case, one should recall that there already was a known defect in Trig, and the family went right ahead with the birth. That appears to be the case with the daughter as well-accepting a mistake and dealing with it responsibly, and in the case of Trig continuing with the pregnancy regardless of the known challenges that lie ahead. That speaks volumes to me.

2000+ posts on this is a waste of bandwidth. Some of the Holier than Thou posts are quite embarrassing. Judge not, lest ye be judged..
