ST. PAUL -- The 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is pregnant, Palin said on Monday in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.

That is a very unfortunate tag line.
The socialists a/k/a Democrats are going to get very nasty very quickly this election cycle.
This election, in my opinion, is going to separate the boys from the men and the girls from the women.
That’s has to go down as one of the worst comments of the day.
For every girl that gets pregnant there are five that got “lucky” and didn’t get pregnant.
Facts is that life has a ton of curveballs and if there is anyone that would hold this against the family as not being able to pass on family values either doesn’t undertand forgiveness or pretends they live in a perfect reality.
I am sure that you and all your family are pure like snow

Thank you. Oh they arn’t running for VP.
And if they were they wouldn’t be mum about something like this. They would make sure it was know up front.
How ‘bout you. Would you hide it?
I was listening to Bill Kristol on Special Report getting all outraged over anyone mentioning this issue. ‘How dare they!’ All I have to say is, how silly can anyone be.
I am a life long pro-lifer! I have not condemned Bristol Palin for getting pregnant or her parents for loving their child at this difficult time.
I have criticized John McCain for accepting this reality for business as usual. I have attacked people for linking Reagan's 1952 case with this case.
Its great that Obama came out and said that families and children of candidates should be off limits to any criticism. Guess its fine for Fred Barnes to call Obama, “a decent human being”. What hypocrites.
I've never seen this level of political correctness on FR in my 9 years as a member of this great conservative forum. That includes this recent PC surrounding hurricane Gustav!
It is not a celebration of bad behavior. It is positive reinforcemtn of right decisions in the face of bad behavior.
This girl is going to grow up faster. This young manis going to be a father much sooner than most these days.
If you abandon and cruify those that by their deeds (not words) make right over the wrong then you will never have redemption.
A 17year old screwed up.
She was however part of a family that raised her to be strong enough, and a family that supported her enough, to give her the strenght to made the right decisions regadless of the pressure to “just have an abortion.”
Well now, did R. Reagan’s kids listen to him? He and Nancy no doubt tried to put their own values in their kids, but sometimes kids won’t listen until it happens! Did Reagan’s supporters desert him? Obviously not! Considering he won twice!
Because life is not about not making mistakes, it’s about how one deals with them.
The most important thing is that the way the family reacted to her is precisely the kind of response that a young woman in a similar situation needs to see and believe she can also receive. The alternative is fingers of accusation of rejection that will almost certainly push those young women who are in similar situations and not sure what to do to make the wrong decision with regards to whether or not to abort the baby.
And in the ends, the fact that those lives are in the balance might end up being even more important than who wins and loses elections.
We have to have mercy and forgive because God had mercy and forgave us. If don’t forgive, we won’t be forgiven. Have you ever lost your temper, had an impure thought, or said something unkind? I know that I have and all of those things are sins. In God’s eyes those sins are just as evil as a kid having premarital sex. Now, premarital sex has larger consequences but she is stepping up and accepting those consequences so we need to love and forgive her not shoot our wounded.
And Bristol Palin’s situation exactly parallels your mother’s, except for the “no dad” and “no welfare” and “the ‘50s” parts, so, like, the whole story.
The baby will probably not be born, at least not adoptable, until after the election is over. I don't see at all how harassing the adoptive family would help their candidate get elected. I don't see how harassing the adoptive family would make Palin look bad. If the baby isn't adopted, is the press going to harass the newlywed parents? Why not? They will be easier to locate.
What makes you think MOST people think adoption is the best solution?
What makes you think I think that? I have no idea what MOST people think. I am reported the opinion of a demographic I have observed.
Is Jamie Lynn Spears’ mother nominated for vice-president?
‘Cause if not, it’s an interesting comparison, sort of, but irrelevant.
I agree it is becoming absurd. It certainly is absurd that some would consider not voting for Sarah Palin because her daughter is pregnant. I think the whole thread has become a subject of grace vs judgement.
.....but my simple mind can't rap around how.....
.....dissing the best chances we (Americans) have at avoiding more of exactly what is being discussed here.....
.....by "rewarding" those that would profit by exploiting this.....
I disagree, giving birth control to you children is pure evil. And I am not going to Hell for nobody, no way.
Point of order, VR ... the “adult thing” to do would have been to wait until the wedding night.
Failing that, the “adult thing” to do would have been to use more protection than I’m guessing was used.
Excellent story! Maybe you could use a few more exclamation points!
Since you're asking me. Yes, temper tantrum after temper tantrum, post after post.
Btw, you supported Willard Myth Romney for POTUS and VPOTUS? Right?
