ST. PAUL -- The 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is pregnant, Palin said on Monday in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.

I didn’t. And if I were you I would stop communicating threats.
If people will insist on taking conditional statements as statements of fact or belief, and if people will insist on taking things out of context, there’s not much I can do.
My point was REGARDLESS of whether the eloping accusations against Sarah Palin were true (and I don’t give a rats a$$ whether they’re true or not - don’t care! Is that clear enough?) that the fact that her daughter is keeping the baby and marrying the father is a GOOD THING. Even if it’s not the BEST THING. And in today’s culture, it’s even a VERY GOOD THING.
Given the despair that I am told permeated the country during the Carter years, I cannot say what I would have done. I was a flaming liberal in my teens and early twenties.
So thanks, but no thanks. I prefer to deal in actualities, not hypotheticals. Intellectual masturbation ain’t my style.
As someone who was pregnant at 17 and married the father and am still married 37 years later, so what?
I’m aware that my stance is unpopular.
One thing that strikes me on this thread is the amazing acceptance of premarital sex. Why is that? Because of the couple who engaged in it, one is the daughter of one of ours?
oops!
Not the Obama camp, but one of their surrogate 527’s should run an add with photos of britney Spear’s knocked up sister (although I believe she has since given birth) next to Bristol Palin with a voice over about “who’s the celebrity now”.
Palin should have been vetted better. The libs are hypocrites with all of their wailing but this is too much of a distraction.
if there was a birth control failure, well, that’s just unfortunate—but another reason to just teach abstinence.
But not giving teens contraceptives is like giving a kid the keys to a Porsche. If a kid gets a Porsche for his 16th birthday and dies in a crash, it’s not the kid’s fault, but rather the parents’. That’s why we don’t let 16-year-olds sign contracts or vote.
Temper tantrum? I responded to each of your points individually in detail and even listed all of the questions I've posed to you that you have yet to answer. Here, let me post them again in case you somehow missed them the first two times:
As I pointed out to another misguided poster in a recent reply.
Which recent reply was that exactly?
Pointing out one matter of bad behavior, doesn't excuse other bad behavior.
No, of course not. I does, however, point out your hypocrisy when you excuse a more severe form of bad behavior in Ronald Reagan while publicly and vigorously condemning the less bad behavior of Sarah Palin.
Reagan's bad behavior in 1952, doesn't excuse Sarah Palins daughters bad behavior in 2008.
Of course not, but it does demonstrate your hypocrisy for your demonizing the less severe sinner while idolizing the more severe sinner.
Btw, your remarks continue to be over the top, out of line and dead wrong.
You keep saying that but you never tell me which ones. For the fifth time, could you please tell me which of my comments you think are "over the top, out of line and dead wrong"? Please post them.
Let me add to that rhetorical litany, OFF THE WALL!
I'm sorry, but I don't know how else to get you to respond. You claim to have answered all my questions but you never do. Are you the liar you appear to be?
Your attempts to wiggle out
What exactly have a tried to wiggle out of? If anything I have gone way out of my way to get you to respond.
reveals a character flaw that directly reflects in your juvenile behavior on this public forum.
"Juvenile behavior"? Surely you jest! All I have done is demonstrate for everyone here the complete lack of substance of your accusations and your cowardice at confronting any challenge. There is no "juvenile behavior" in exposing an overt troll for the fool he is.
Why?
In all seriousness, why should we help someone who demonstrated bad judgement against the teachings her family instilled in her?
Where’s the learning in bailing out someone?
Where I come from, we don’t celebrate bad behavior, in contrast to the FReeper who posted a Bristol Shower Thread earlier today.
Thank you.
Because we, unlike they, have standards.
How many teen daughters do you have, and how well did it work? Or are you childless and thus equipped with an infallible opinion on how to raise kids?
I didn't know that being able to observe and report the prevalence of a belief, without myself holding that belief, was such a rare gift. I indeed am thus gifted.
Not only can I report my observation of the prevalence of a belief I don't hold, I am also able to read a post reporting that there are people with whom I disagree without insulting the poster.
I don't think any of this makes me insane.
I think it is presumptuous for any of us to advise a teenager we know only from news reports about whether or not to rear her baby, so I don't even have an opinion about that.
let me correct my statement ‘a baby is never a bad thing’, but the baby will be raised in a better environment if the parents are responsible.
I am a bit taken back. Did you or were you until marriage?? If so ...wonderful.
I hope and pray that my daughter keeps her legs tight....and uses her brains!!!!
Though, being a teen at one time...I am not sure what to say...
If Chelsea was pregnant, I would not consider it any of my business, either.
Would I celebrate it? No.
Would I commend her for doing the right thing if she let the baby live? Yes.
