ST. PAUL -- The 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is pregnant, Palin said on Monday in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.

That's why I called it a "quibble." The passage is not theologically unsound. It just wasn't in the source documents.
Can someone explain why Bristol isn’t already married to the father of the baby? What the hell is she waiting for?
Coming from the man who trashed Fred Thompson’s Christian faith and worked to undermine his candidacy.
Might help with some Evangelicals.
Not with me.
You really need to put the LSD blotter down. Palin is coming across as "one of us". Sure her daughter screwed up. Who hasn't? The difference is that this is the evidence of her character in making the best of a mistake.
People resonate with that.
Thanks for thinking about an answer to these questions, as they are the important ones now.
VP pick was his alone, as you know. My only concern about this is whether he knew, but since he claims he did and I accept that, now it is completely up to him and Gov.Palin, and unfortunately her daughter. I think his decision to go ahead and put his support behind Palin anyway exhibits courage I have very seldom seen in a politician. I’ve made so many posts at FR it would be hard for you to look at my posting history about McCain, but trust me that out of the field of GOP candidates, McCain was third from bottom on my list of the ten or so. I do NOT like him, and haven’t for about ten years.
This, though, really raises MY RESPECT for him in a way that I can’t even express! His selection of Palin to begin with was extremely courageous, even though she has been at the top of my list for VP since about March (have you seen MadIvan’s recommendation of her that he wrote in February?). Now added to that courage we now have this factor that he chose to accept when he asked her to be his partner?!!!
WOW!
Maybe it is because I have kids (and I was one) and I don’t see occasional sins of children as NECESSARILY the sins or fault of the parents. I really believe when things like this occur in a family, the telling thing is how it is handled - is it done with integrity, or without. That applies, too, to the “family of Republicans”.
The McCain people now get nasty. They cannot handle what a boob their candidate is. I was going to close eyes and vote for him when he first announced Palin, but to paraphrase Rush, “Just when you think McCain made a good decision, you find out you are wrong.”
I wonder if the problem is more stupidity or arrogance?
You're a little slow, but that's ok! I evaluated the political impact, and finding it to be minimal, I accepted it.
Yargh, what an awful pic. I should take that down. :)
You have summed up my belief exactly.
I will add that I have a lot of respect for Governor Palin.
Thanks for the Cleveland thing. A nice piece of history I did not know in depth.
Let's go to the tape!
Sarah believes in abstinence only. She probably had Bristol taken out of health class during the sex ed part, or it was covered when she was out for months with mono.
Hmmm... last time I checked premarital sex and teen pregnancy was not prohibited by the US Constitution and also the Age of Consent in Alaska is 16. So, one could say it may offend some hyper-religious folks - the majority can identify with this and say the Palins are handling this as best they can. God is gracious enough to forgive and so should we. Conservatives should not be concerned over this as no US or Alaskan laws were broken. Is it sin? Sure, but not something that should disqualify candidacy. Otherwise we’d have no candidates at all, including everyone on FR.
Sure, if they were determined to cover it up they would have put their daughter in center stage holding a baby and wearing a ring. Sorry, but that just doesn’t make sense.
Wow!
Dr. Dobson is redeeming himself again and again.
You’ve already dug yourself a deep enough hole.
I’m normally not like this, but in your case I’ll make an exception...you’re on ignore as a fraud from here on out.
People are so naive.
Yeah, she should have aborted it, and then no one would have found out.
Aborted? I never mentioned that. You did. The fact is, if this would have been some leftist President or VP candidate who came up with a pregnant teenager, the Republicans would have a field day. The Democrats do the same.
You know it, and I know it. Please cram your classless opinion in whatever orifice your species traditionally crams things.
As a board member of two pro-life non-profits, I am well aware that girls often get pregnant despite their parents' values
Well that's very commendable. However, that had nothing to do with my post regarding political hypocrisy.
I never suggested you said anything *previously* specifically about a Democrats pregnant teenager. Of you course you know that.
I will admit, instead of injecting your moniker, I should have just said, many, "Republicans probably would be the first one out here mocking their family values". Which is the truth.
So for injecting your specific moniker into the post, I apologize for that.
Is Bristol married?
I love that PIC of you!!!
Obama used his children as political tools by thrusting them on Access Hollywood and People magazine. Last time I checked, they were actual babies.
