For 20 years, Harlem Rep. Charles Rangel has owned a beachfront villa in a sun-drenched Dominican Republic resort, yet has only sporadically declared income on the property in federal filings.

While the villa was rented to paying guests for the past two years, for instance, Rangel reported no income from it in 2006 and 2007, The Post has learned. As a congressman, failure to fully list all income and investments can result in civil penalties or criminal charges.
The powerful Ways and Means Committee chairman, a Democrat, owns "casita" No. 412 on the Caribbean Sea at the Punta Cana Hotel, on the lush eastern tip of the country, where he is affectionately known as "el senador."
His three-bedroom, three-bath villa, which can accommodate three couples, is rented for between $500 in the low season to $1,100 a night in the busiest tourist season and is one of the resort's most popular, managers and staff say.
"You are requesting the best casita on the beach," a reservations manager told a Post reporter posing as a customer.

Isn’t this the “culture of corruption” that SanFranNanLoserPelosi was going to “clean house” about? Nice work, SanFranNan; more of your crooked dems are exposed. And how’s that investigation of Wm. “Freezer” Jefferson - democrat Louisiana - going?
It will be the old “i’ll pay it back since I got caught” line that rangel is so fond of using and getting away with.

Mr Rangel’s tax filings need to be investigated. It couldn't happen to a more deserving demagogue populist.

Thanks....now I have to schedule a retinal transplant......
Charlie will just say that his expenses were greater than the rental revenue and thus he had losses for the periods in question. He didn’t want to burden the American taxpayers with his personal problems so, rather than using these losses to partially offset his salary, he just ignored the whole thing.
William Jefferson lost his spot on the Way and Means committee for his corruption problems. I think it only fair the FBI and the IRS pay Mrs. Rangel a visit and he lost his chairmanship, as well.
Ask Wesley Snipes about that.
Just too good, I guess since Hillary probably still controls the IRS......it doesn’t matter.
Bump for another Chuckie Rangel moment.
This Black Caucus hangs together for corruption, kickbacks, lying and duplicity, don’t they?
Furthermore, his ability to claim loss on the property is subject to all kinds of limitations depending on his use of the property for personal use or for investment, and his tax fling status. As rental income is “passive income” his ability to deduct losses may be further circumscribed. The IRS rules are clear. Charlie is a tax scofflaw. An ordinary person would be audited and stuck with back taxes and penalties. Ironically Charlie is the kind of guy he loves to reinvent the tax code to punish.
I think Charlie is toast. The public is in no mood for this crap.
***Crickets chirping.***
Rangle, Dodd, John Edwards need to be investigated.
