Bloggers
and here ] are all over the theory that Sarah Palin's four-month-old baby may actually be her grandchild - the son of her 16-year-old daughter, who missed most of the last school year with what the family said was mononucleosis.

My first thought is that this sort of scrutiny has to be really hard on the 16-year-old girl in question. And my second thought was that IF this turns out to be true, I'll find it a really scary example - perhaps the most scary example of anything I've seen in a long time - of a politician who would do anything to get elected.

And if this IS true, Sarah Palin has opened her daughter up to a rough ride by exposing her family to the national press. The mainstream media only recently found itself badly burned when tabloids and bloggers completely scooped them on a salacious rumor (John Edwards' affair) that turned out to be 100% true. You can bet the press won't let this happen again, and I guarantee you that there are reporters in Alaska right this minute, poring over school, birth, and travel records, as well as looking at every photo of this family that they can get their hands on.

New York Times v. Sullivan would preclude Gov. Palin from filing suit. But that does not preclude her daughter's filing suit.

See #38. That was all over FR back in the day. And apparently still is. Get a grip yourself.
This comes from DU on their grotesque speculation on a Palin pregnancy cover-up

122. What many here don't understand. It doesn't matter if it's true or not. RUMOR IS TRUTH.
The modern laws of media hype and political warfare have a useful tenet:
Repeat ANYTHING or raise false concern over ANYTHING and it is likely to be planted in the conscious/subconscious of many voters.
If people start to think that there might be something fishy with Palin's last kid (if hers), then that's FINE. One more doubt (whether tied to reality or not) is another hesitation at the ballot box.
GET WITH THE PROGRAM PEOPLE. The "rising above it" bullshit has served us so well in the past, hasn't it?
If you have problems with the story, then STFU and get out of the way of Dems who are engaged in MODERN POLITICAL WARFARE. Go tend your garden or some other pedestrian task, because the "concern trolls" are not helping shape the message.
I'm not sure what part of my post you're calling "bull." Would you be more specific?
Some of the people who support Obama are without souls. They are truly scary.

The bit about her flying home puzzled me too, as I thought ladies more than seven months pregers were not accepted on commercial flights. Perhaps she had a private plane?
She flew Alaska Airlines.
That’s really a little more than devil’s advocate, as a vote for Barr is a vote for Obama/Biden, against McCain/Palin.
Let’s be logical, then. Maybe the feeling in the pit of your stomach will go away.
Risk benefit: why go through such an elaborate coverup, with the risk of political disgrace if not prosecution for insurance fraud? For what benefit?
And if she did decide to go through with such a hare-brained scheme, she’d need to fool all her close family too, otherwise someone is sure to spill the beans.
She’d have used more pillow so we wouldn’t now be looking at old photos and videos and thinking she doesn’t look pregnant.
Again, for what? Who would do such a ridiculous thing?
I can scarcely believe anyone would take this indecent rumor seriously.
i agree with you. what mother, knowing she will be targeted by the left and mercilessly hounded throughout this campaign and beyond, would subject her daughter [and the rest of the family] to this, knowing there was such a scandal in her closet? it is beyond ludicrous to give it any credence.
I’ve spent a lot of time reading the comments over at DailyKos and surprisingly a lot of them want to bury this story as well. But it obviously isn’t going down unless it is met head-on. Scumbags like Moore and others will continue to do anything and everything to accomplish their goals.
I don’t want to use one of Obama’s patented lines, but this is potentially a huge “distraction.”
What concerns me is that it is ALLEGED that there is no record of the birth at the hospital. That the daughter was out of school for some five months due to Mono. The video does not reflect any proof that Sara Palin was pregnant. It is inconclusive.
What needs to be said to slam the brakes down on this solidly is for the doctor who delivered the baby to issue a clear and unambiguous statement that it was her baby. If he is an ethical doctor and especially if there were nurses present who could document this, it would even be better. Of course DNA would be best of all.
My stomach is tied up in knots over this thing. Gotta get some Alka Seltzer.
Not to mention just plain silly. They look even stupider with this kind of propaganda.
I would just ignore it as they are doing now. I would not waste any energy on something so crazy.
“all over the theory that Sarah Palin’s four-month-old baby may actually be her grandchild - the son of her 16-year-old daughter”
If that’s true, it only causes Sarah Palin to rise even higher in my estimation. Looks like this woman’s motto might be, “Do the right thing.”
Palin went into labor while on stage giving a speech.
I believe it was a speech in Texas. Heard it on the Laura Ingraham Show. They discussed it.
Either she’s pregnant, or there’s something underneath her sweatshirt that looks amazingly like a not hugely—but distinctly—inflated balloon!
