My first thought is that this sort of scrutiny has to be really hard on the 16-year-old girl in question. And my second thought was that IF this turns out to be true, I'll find it a really scary example - perhaps the most scary example of anything I've seen in a long time - of a politician who would do anything to get elected.

And if this IS true, Sarah Palin has opened her daughter up to a rough ride by exposing her family to the national press. The mainstream media only recently found itself badly burned when tabloids and bloggers completely scooped them on a salacious rumor (John Edwards' affair) that turned out to be 100% true. You can bet the press won't let this happen again, and I guarantee you that there are reporters in Alaska right this minute, poring over school, birth, and travel records, as well as looking at every photo of this family that they can get their hands on.

An outrageous and vicious rumor is being followed up on, and yet John Edwards mad affair, with payoffs from campaign funds and an illegitimate child are off limits for two whole years? Until the National Enquirer broke the story?

No, let’s not suppose the rumor is true. It is a vicious lie and it’s libeling a minor.
Let’s tack this vicious rumor directly to the Obama camp and see where it goes from there.

Chelsea Clinton looks extremely like her maternal grandmother, Dorothy Rodham. Same facial structure, same cheekbones, same shape of the mouth, same set of the eyes and nose, etc. The resemblance between grandmother, mother and granddaughter is very strong.

I have a very high profile conservative African-American client and this same smear was alleged against his family. It was quickly dispelled. This must be in the lib playbook.
Yes, they really are. I really want to just let those idiots sink themselves, but I start feeling...well...chivalrous when these rumors are out there and I start wanting to punch some teeth out (metaphorically, of course).
On every non-political blog that I read, where somebody posts something about Palin, within five posts, some moonbat talks about this. They are in pure desperation at this point, but it aggravates me to no end.
It would be nice to think that they will soon be shown to be wrong and will be ashamed. But we all know that they have no shame.

Ask the publisher why an Obama campaign volunteer is allowed to write for the Knoxville News? She so obviously is, you know.
