I wish one of these people would respond by talking about how dems were equally if not more bad in their leadership during Katrina. Not on the Sunday show. However, Karl Rove answered head on with the TRUE story (feds prohibited by law from responding until governor requests). Said it was changed after Katrina to allow response in case of national disaster. But further says Congress is trying to change it back.

I think overall we are getting the message out that we won't be stomped on any more. It may take the pubbies in Congress a while to step up but little by little I think they will.

Absolutely: it was up TO THE GOVERNOR to respond to these things, and Blanco and Nagin REFUSED to do so during Katrina.
As bad as this situation is, I am beginning to see a super OPPORTUNITY here for McCain and the Republicans to draw SHARP distinctions with the Dems -— aided and abetted by their stoopid olympian convention theme and celebration on Thursday.
