As an authentic feminist and independent conservative I am thrilled with McCain’s choice of Sarah Palin for Vice-President.
I have to confess, I didn’t give him enough credit. I have come to support McCain grudgingly, only after Giuliani and then Romney. And when the VP stakes began both on my Web site and radio show Palin had been a consistent favorite of readers and listeners. As disappointment and even hostility with Washington has grown, McCain has done something so many of us were hoping for–he made a daring, maverick and ultimately the right choice for his running mate.
A choice reflective of real change, but change based in principle and true progress.
What’s the difference now between Obama and McCain? Last night, Obama spoke about rejecting the politics of the past, after he spoke for a good 20 minutes embracing the old, tired and failed liberal politics of the past 50 years.
With choosing Palin, McCain has now set the standard of genuine change, a willingness to buck the status quo, not just rhetorically,but actually. Perhaps we shouldn’t have been surprised–it was a Republicans who put African-Americans into actual positions of power, rejecting the Clintonian notion that blacks should accept the absurdity of a white man being the ‘first black president.’ And now, it is again a conservative who elevates a woman to power.
There were many other predictable, perhaps safer, choices McCain could have made which would have satiated the conservative base. Yet, he chose someone who has the qualifications and has a history of also walking the maverick walk, but does not necessarily have the traditional resume, and that’s exactly what we want in a day when trust in government has never been lower.
Sarah Palin is a perfect choice...

While I don’t agree with Tammy Bruce’s sexual choice she has done a lot to expose the NOW gang. This is another excellent article from her.

Going against the tide here, no doubt, but one of the biggest issues that people I know have with Obama is his inexperience. While I admire much about her, the selection of Palin has taken one of the strongest arguments against Obama off the table. Its a brave move by McCain: whether it will turn out to be a smart one remains to be seen.
How so? Since Palin has more executive experience than Obama.
I love Tammy too for same reasons..
one thing I like about Palin is the era of “professional politicians” seems over with her. Her fresh nearly amateurism about political office is refreshing.
One other thing on the foreign front — I don’t think the newly reformed Soviets or the Chinese will see Palin as “strong”. Condi was broken by Bush mush jabber.
But then again, she may have some cajones as an NRA member...
I am sorry but if you think Palin isn't experienced you're just wrong. Governor of Alaska, mayor a town for serveral terms, foreign experience because as governor of Alaska she has had to deal with other countries, two of them border Alaska. She has accomplished much, not just talked about it, but done it. Trashed corrupt republican politicians and made them resign, sold the jet of one of them on E-bay, lowered property taxes in her home town, opened up a pipeline for natural gas that other governors only talked about.
Obama recognizes the fact she has experience because today, on another thread on FR, Obama and Biden both back tracked on the no experience statement saying that sometimes campaigns had hair triggers and talked without thinking, words to that affect.
So if Obama recognizes, and McCain recognizes, Palin has experience why don't you?
I think it was Biden and Clinton who were talking about Obama’s inexperience as well.
So basically the inexperience has been off the table with the selection of Biden, IMO.

It took nothing off the table but instead placed it on the table in full course meal fashion.There are so many easy responses to the experience challenge that I am sure the McCain team(which has absolutely been brilliant) is just licking at the chops to respond to any and all of them:

Challenge: McCain questions Obama’s experience yet selects a inexperienced 1st term governor.
Answer: Palin is not running for President, but as his running mate. If experience is your problem with her she has 2 years more executive experience than Biden and Obama COMBINED and has had to deal with multiple foreign nations, including Japan, Russia and Canada on various issues.
How so?
SHE has Executive experience, as Governor of Alaska.
SHE has Fiscal experience, as Governor of Alaska.
She has Management experience, as Governor of Alaska.
SHE has Reformist experience, as Governor of Alaska.
SHE has Diplomatic experience, as Governor of Alaska.
SHE beats Biden by a mile, and Obama by a galaxy!
And I just learned about her today!
Not to pile on, but permit me to pile on.
She has 16 years in public life, but her public life is a history of going after the big dogs and beating them. She has gone after people in her own party and forced them out, which shows some courage.
Town council, mayor, oil and gas board, ethics board in which she actually went after people. Then governor. Actually pushing the pipeline through. Pilot, hunter, commercial fisherman, she has done real things.
Then look at Obama. Never had a real job in his life. Nothing on his resume at all, and what there is they keep trying to hide the documentation. His only accomplishment, the only one, is talking about himself. There is no list of battles fought or battles won, nothing built, nothing to show for his years of doing, well, nothing.
He has the resume of an average college intern.
I am so sick of this endless line of "career" politicians on the national scene. It seems that our best president are those who had long careers outside of politics. Ronald Reagan being the prime example of this.
When Obama nominated Joe Biden as VP, who started his senatorial career when McCain was still rotting in a North Vietnam prison camp, I'm sure many of his supporters wanted to throw up. Some change!
This Sarah Palin is a breath of fresh air and represents the real candidate of change. Obama is just another empty suit career politician.
There are some nitwits posting on that Fox board who are seriously dismissing Sarah as VP because of her inexperience, ignoring the fact that she has more governing experience than all three men who are running for office. She rocks!
So does Tammy Bruce. I would love to try to “convert” her.

Really, I’m running out of adjectives to describe how little experience he has. I shouldn’t have to work this hard, I can’t believe this is the guy they chose to head the ticket.
Still, he never sold out to the Viet Cong like Kerry, and he’s not a complete mental case like Gore, and he couldn’t possibly be as corrupt as the Clintons, and could anyone be as hopelessly bad as Carter? So, I guess in terms of the Democratic Party, maybe he is the best they can do.
I still can’t get over the fact that he looked around that huge party, and out of the millions he picked Biden. Biden?

Not sure you understand - the man with the Senate, military, and foreign relations credibility is still at the top of the ticket.
It’s called succession planning and it’s what we do in the private sector.
Incumbent protectionism will die with this election.
Or it better if either one of the parties want to survive.
