Also, it said she was watching the fireworks from her home. Well the only problem with that is there were no fireworks at the state fair yesterday!

I believe they meant the "fireworks" in a metaphorical sense i.e. the VP selection fireworks.

That being said, it certainly could be a head fake from the Palin PR person.

I now think Bill Hemmer is on crack.

“Obama campaign kept a tight lid on his VP pick until the very last moment.”

Uh...not quite.

Hi WooWoo,

Can you go knock on her door-see if she's home? This is maddening.

If Palin is truly McCain’s pick, not only will women come out in droves to volunteer on his campaign, but (real) men will, too, as they learn more about her, her husband, and their family.

He couldn’t have made a better pick to cause me to get out and work on his campaign. I worked on Romney’s campaign here in Florida and was really disappointed that Huckabee and then Crist conspired to keep Romney from the win. I had hoped that Romney would be the VP choice because he had the second-most votes. Then Wednesday, I thought it might be Pawlenty because of various things I heard, so I reluctantly was ready to accept him if it was true. I wouldn’t have enthusiastically helped in McCain’s campaign though.

Now I will, if Palin is his pick!! Whoo Hoo!! I’ll head straight down to the Republican HDQTRS in Orlando today if it is! (Gotta go down there anyhow to get more McCain stickers as someone tried to scrape mine off the back window of my car already. -They couldn’t get at my “NObama” stickers staring at them through my windshield. I keep my visors down at all times and have those stickers on the back of them facing out. :)

I hope Matt is wrong too! Please be wrong Matt! Sarah Palin is the winning ticket!

FWIW, CNN is saying this, but is quoting her Washington DC office. Plausible deniability perhaps.

12 minutes ago:

"Speculation over McCain veep turns to Alaska gov."

Two GOP strategists close to the McCain campaign said all indications pointed to Palin, 44, a self-styled "hockey mom" and political reformer.

I would work also to get McCain elected if it is Palin. I waiting in "stand by" until we know for sure.

Let it be known, I will not support a "woman" VP just because it is a woman. I want a pro life pick. I want a pro life ticket!

Just what we need someone with city council experience.

First, she is as experienced as Obama, with more executive experience. Politically, it will be difficult for the dems to say she is too inexperienced to be VP when their candidate for POTUS has less experience.

Second, I'll take a less experienced principled conservative over an experienced RINO moderate any day. I'll withhold judgment on whether she is that principled conservative, but on the surface, it seems so.

I have fingers crossed, but I’m getting prepared for a disappointment.

"a self styled Hockey Mom"

Finally an alternative to counter the liberal "Soccer Moms". I just hope she's the pick. Now, I'm not so sure- Praying-fingers crossed she's the VP.

” She has zero name recognition.”

I didn’t recognize her name when I first heard it, and it took exactly 2 minutes to search for her name on wiki..

What I read I liked. Name recognition works both ways. Did you recognize Joe Bidet’s name and did that give you warm fuzzes?

Obama was a BB benchwarmer in HS. Palin was captain and point guard of the state champion team, playing in spite of an ankle stress fracture.

Palin woiuld certainly be better than Lieberman or Ridge, but I’m doisappointed it’s not Romney. If it’s her she’d be coming in with baggage. They’re alrready talking about a mini-scandal involving her aids pressuring the firing of a state trooper who was divorcing her sister.

A little encouragement here:

I’m not buying the ‘In Alaska’ story. I think its the McCain campaign blowing out smoke and mirrors again like they did last night over Pawlenty. Its also possible (assuming the McCain camp has kept a tight lid on it and only a few people know) that Palin’s assistant doesn’t know either yet and is simply reaffirming the ‘previous’ schedule.

Check out Intrade - Palins numbers are off the chart.

Krauthammer on FNC right now advising against a “rookie” like Palin. He says McCain should have a “safe” pick like Thompson. TWO “OLD” GUYS running together???? NO WAY!!

Well said Match...we're on the same page regarding Governor Palin...and most other things.

Start getting EXCITED!!!!

CNN - Thursday night’s arrival of a private jet from Alaska at the Middleton, Ohio, airport raised speculation that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin would be McCain’s pick. Middleton is 25 miles from Dayton.

Rich Bevis, an airport manager at the Middleton airport, said that a woman, two men and two teenagers were onboard

“This is the most secretive flight we’ve ever had,” Bevis said.

Normally I like Krauthammer, but this time he’s wrong IMO. All you have to do is look at the faces of the liberal media to know Palins’s a fantastic pick.

BTW: Is it just me or is FreeRepublic running slow as molasses?
