McCain Veep Watch.......
August 28, 2008 | Conservativegramma

Posted on 08/28/2008 2:11:59 PM PDT by conservativegramma

Let's start a comment and update page as we get more and more info coming in. We now know Hutchison is not the choice. She confirmed she was not the pick with Neil Cavuto about 45 minutes ago.

Fox News has also confirmed that all potential selections will be in Dayton tomorrow. And has confirmed that both Pawlenty and Romney cancelled appearances on their schedules.

Comments anyone???? Predictions???

“why Dayton?”

Because it’s a toss-up state the GOP absolutely needs to win. McCain is supposed to be doing a 3-state rollout of his VP selection ... it’d be OH/MI/? Can’t remember.

Plus, I want a guy with rock solid principles, regardless of his profession. Incidentally, most CEOs I know are country club Republicans that donate to Hutchinson, Guiliani, and people like that.

Valid points again. But I also want someone who understands simple economic principles, like excessive taxation ruins the ecnomy, only spend what you have, etc. As you pointed out, our last CEO didn't know the latter, nor do the Dems running.

But we're too late on the principle thing. When the guy at the top of the ticket doesn't have any conservative ones, the 2nd choice won't really matter.

Yep, McCain is definitely playing the media and us! I’m getting more impressed by the minute. What a hoot!

Mark this down.

If the McCain people are smart, and I suspect they are handling this like seasoned pros, they will leak tidbits about who will be in Ohio tomorrow all during the buildup to Obama's speech.

They will not leak tonight until Obama is done!

Then, they will step all over his afterglow and leak the name to Matt Drudge with Second Coming type. I expect an out-of-the-blue pick to steal Barak's thunder.

Watch Condi, Meg, and Sarah.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

A woman would certainly do that. And some of the feministas that are so pissed they don't get to vote for Hillary might take the bait.

Very true. But I can justify supporting McCain if only for the reason that I will be picking an anointed successor who is a principled conservative.

As National Co-Chair of McCain’s campaign, Meg will be everywhere McCain is from now until November.

True. It would certainly make it a lot less distasteful and could set them up nicely for 2012, assuming McCain doesn't out-liberal the liberals the next 4 years.

I have to say that I was an interested observer until now. The VP choice will make all the difference for me now. Perhaps it shouldn't, logically, but watching the Dems and their arrogance - along with a real conservative VP (please!) might make me back McAmnesty after all.

Folks...seriously, Meg Whitman??? She will be a heartbeat away from the presidency when we are at war and have Russia and Iran to deal with? I am stunned. I almost prefer Joe L. and he would make me scream.

Also, while I would much rather watch Sarah Palin debate Biden, Meg is Frumpy in a good way. I was an early supporter of Fred and really like Frumpy-ism. Maybe because I am becoming more Frumpy everyday...

“It’s Romney. Secret Servicemen are already vetting his sister’s house in Michigan.”

She probably threatened to go postal if her brother didn’t get picked. She wasn’t being vetted, she was being interogated. ;-)

If McCain picks Romeny, he has blown it. Better to go with another.

Actually, he said he had sources with both the RNC and the campaign. He said that the campaign confirmed that the VP will NOT be Slick Willard and that the RNC contact separately told him that the pick would be a woman.

Pretty clever to let out info one bit at a time. Builds up suspense and takes attention from the Dems.

“She was a much better campaigner than Bob in 96, she’s got plenty of experience and rates over 90 with the ACU—more conservative than McCain.”

She was the only bright spot in the otherwise drowl Dole campaign. I wished she was the pick, but I don’t think it will happen.

This is being handled quite masterfully. It would seem a huge letdown after all of this to end up with Myth or Pawlenty. (Though I’m happy with anyone but Der Flipmeister.)
