Biden gives McCain a bounce?
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review ^ | Salena Zito

DENVER - Sen. Joe Biden has no bounce, at least according to the Gallup Daily tracking polls.

It's official: Sen. Barack Obama has received no bounce in voter support out of his selection of Sen. Joe Biden to be his vice presidential running mate.

Gallup Poll Daily tracking from Aug. 23 to 25 -- the first three-day period falling entirely after Obama's Saturday morning vice presidential announcement -- shows 46 percent of national registered voters backing Sen. John McCain and 44 percent supporting Obama. This is not appreciably different from the previous week's standing for both candidates. This is the first time since Obama clinched the nomination in early June, though, that McCain has held any kind of advantage over Obama in Gallup Poll Daily tracking.

The rolling polls at RealClearPolitics has Obama holding on to a 1.7 edge over McCain.

Tack on margins of errors and the race remains a tie.

It's not just that Biden is a negative. It's also that he's about the only specific you've ever gotten from Obama. So far, Obama's been all hope and change and fighting Washington insiders and special interest groups. So what's the first major decision he makes? Hire an old white guy who's been in Washington for 30 years sucking up to special interest groups.

It's like telling your kid you're going to take him to Disneyland on his birthday. You tell him this three times a day, every day for six months. Then when the day acutally comes, you tell him it's too far to drive, so you got him a bag of wet horse manure.

My immediate gut feeling was that he sensed with the Georgia crisis that he was totally out of his league, and desperately grabbed the first Democrat he knew with any foreign policy experience.

Did they say why? is it because of his racist comments, or his vote for the Iraq war or just because hes an arrogant prick?

It was mentioned earlier that Nunn is older than McCain...I think it was 78 or something. The age thing would have been rendered void if they had gone with Nunn.

I didn’t realize how big a negative Biden was.

I remember an extreme liberal who was horrified by Biden's idiocy during the Alito hearings. By the way, she was a Hillary supporter this year.

I've always seen Biden as a character --- not in the eccentric sort of way but an actual character. The typical slimy, long-winded politician who knows absolutely nothing about anything but will expound endlessly about everything while simultaneously sliding his hand over his secretary's backside. I would bet money that Hollywood casting directors put out descriptions for roles of politicians using the keywords "Biden type".

Nevermind my previous post. Nunn is 70 this year and is 2 years younger than McCain. Still close in age though.

Arrogant/Arrogant-er ‘08

Is it too much of a stretch to think that Obama’s convention bounce will be less than previously expected? IF the whole 4 days continue the current treand I would nt be surprised..

I think this your initial analysis is one of the best on this board. Up until the last paragraph. I think he will pick Romney. And I think that is a good pick. He can’t place his bet on “swing” voters. This puts Michigan and some western states in play. I think it is the only rational thing to do. But you may be right, he may pander and make the 2nd biggest blunder of recent political history.

Yes that didnt make much sense. I dont think its JUST Biden. I think people are looking at BO and wondering if he is capable of handling say matters of national security.

The Dems lack of integrity never ceases to amaze me. They should have stuck with Hillary. Now they will lose and she is stuck with all the debt. I hope she takes back all her delegates. Her self control has been unbelievable.

Hillary is a vulgar form of evil in her own right. She thought she would be queen, screeching about the country side in her ugly pantsuits and drinking shots of whiskey with idiots. The only people who didn't know how stupid they looked were the Clintons.

I love that pic somebody posted of her cavorting around drunk. We are dealing with a more curable form of political cancer fighting Obamism. Clintonism is far worse, but the Dems themselves kept it in remission for us.

You can tell from listening to the democratic politicians and liberal media, that they are very very concerned about Obama. The past 3-4 days, is the first time I have heard the media openly questioning Obama.

Right now, this convention looks like a disaster for Obama. He gave away over half the convention to Hillary and Bill. 4 precious days, and 2 of them are the Clintons. And to top it off, Monday night was “crusty old liberal” night with Carter and Kennedy.

Obama had 4 days to tell the American people who he was and what he stands for. He is going to pretty much give up 2-3 of those days.

Hillary will make a great speech tonight. But in the end, will that help Obama’s cause? I don’t think so. Because it will show the world that she should have been the nominee. And what will Bill remind everyone of on Wednesday?

If Obama cannot control his convention (aka Hillary), how can he be an effective president. Of course all these foreign countries want Obama to be our president. They know they can roll him with ease. Just look what Hillary did to him.

I think I look at it differently. I feel bad for Hillary. She was treated unfairly by her own party, not Republicans.

My own mother who is a life long conservative felt the same exact way about the issue. There is a real lack of common respect and decency. The politics are becoming treacherous.
