As many of you know, over the last couple of months I have had the opportunity to speak with Sen. Barack Obama a couple of timeseven interviewing him here on the website last month.
His campaign has expressed a desire to have an ongoing dialogue with the Christian community, and Ive gladly taken them up on that offer. I have regular conversations with his campaign staff about issues that are important to Christians, talking honestly about areas of disagreement and discussing ways we can work toward a common good. Its a positive dialogue that, as a registered Republican, I have honestly been surprised by. Behind the scenes, Sen. Obamas team has followed through on what they said theyd dokeep a wide range of Christian leaders involved as voices in the campaign. They have a staff of 10 solely focusing on faith issues.
A few weeks ago, I was asked if Id be interested in possibly praying at the Democratic National Convention. Taken aback, but intrigued at the opportunity, I accepted. What better way to continue positive dialogue, show support for an emphasis on faith issues and pray in a forum where faith isnt typically thought to be emphasized? To quote someone close to meand meaning no disrespect whatsoever to Christian Democratsit was a chance to be light in the darkness. And hey, Jesus told us to pray, right?
They made clear they werent asking me to publicly endorse Sen. Obama. They also didnt care that I was a pro-life Republican. I saw my participation as a tangible way to show that this generation of values voters doesnt necessarily need to draw political battle lines the way previous generations have, and that we can work through areas of disagreement toward common goalsfighting systemic poverty; defending innocent lives lost to pre-emptive war, sex trafficking, torture, genocide, slavery and preventable disease; protecting the environment; and proactively working to reduce the number of abortions each year (not only through legislation, prevention and education, but by financial support for pregnant women and overhauling the adoption systemthings are messed up when an abortion is $500 and an adoption is $25,000).

What a crazy, mixed-up world. Those numbers should be reversed.
The dead-soul demomiscreants don't equate the naked, struggling born alive-after-abortion-attempt-on-their-life as human brethren thus they commit evil against these least among us killing them via neglect, assaulting Jesus and heaping retribution upon themselves in the justice to come.
It's the old faustian bargain, sell their souls for todays empowerment, except they don't actually believe they have a soul which will stand for judgment so they are manipulating their audience with disdain for their values. And those fooled by this ruse fall away from Christ as they draw closer to the values of the social justice dead-souls.
Seems he missed one or two, didn't he?

(listed in “Current Communist Goals” in a report to Congress, 1963)
27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with “social” religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a “religious crutch.”
(And truth be told, I havent yet made up my mind about who Im going to vote for this November. There are a lot of specifics Id like to hear the candidates talk about before my decision will be made.)
There are some STARK differences between the candidates positions - one believes in God and one believes that he is god.
Whether a conservative, Christian, independant or an average patriotic American, the choice in this election seems very simple to me. Less government is best - always vote for the most conservative candidate - and that is certainly not BO, or the vast majority of candidates with a "D" next to their name.
If you are truly a Christ follower, you don’t kill the unborn! Yes, we should walk in the darkness but not water down our message.
I’m seeing a lot of postings about Skousen’s book of late.
And that report was presented to Congress when Democrats ran it and a patriotic Democrat, John Kennedy was president.
I re-registered in 1982. Though I detest McCain and believe the Republicans have been infiltrated, I do not see how any Christian could ever support a Democrat at any time.

Thank you for reminding me. Also see “Masters of Deceit” by J.Edgar Hoover. A true American and anti-Communist. That is why the Communists smear him to this day.
That choice of 500 vs. 25,000 is upside down too. It’s not a woman seeking an abortion vs having the child adopted is facing those costs. She pays $500 to get the abortion but receives a good chunk of the $25,000. It’s the adopting parents who pay the larger sum.
Given that the GOP has been moving closer and closer to the middle, Strang's registering as an indie could mean a few different things.
After reading the website and his blog, it’s not because the Republican party has moved to the left.

WARREN said: “Youve seen the face of compassionate conservatism and the face of compassionate liberalism. And what we have in common is compassion.

Placing compassion over truth is the very essence of the soul pathology of liberalism. It pretty much explains all its failures (at least when we arent just dealing with pure subversive malevolence and rebellion).

Compassion over truth is particularly catastrophic in the macro realm. Obviously there are times that it is appropriate in the micro arena, but even there, for example, a psychotherapist who has nothing to offer you but compassion is basically robbing you.

To put it another way, I know of countless psychologists who are compassionate imbeciles, as they pretty much dominate the profession.

... it is very much possible to be compassionate in the absence of truth, unless you define compassion out of existence. For example, I have no doubt that Obama is a compassionate man. But he is also an idiot, which is my primary concern as a citizen.

Dennis Prager was making that very point the other day, that so-called compassion is almost always an ego driven need to be liked and a fear of rejection. Its weakness masquerading as compassion. Give me the truth of Ronald Reagan any day over the compassion of a Jimmy Carter. The former helped liberate millions, while the latter cozies up to any tyrant with his self-righteous compassion.
Male compassion generally comes down to identifying what is of value and kicking the ass of those who threaten it. Female compassion is another mater.

This is why I dreaded the term compassionate conservatism, being that conservatism is intrinsically compassionate. It is liberal policies that end in cruelty uneducated children, the destruction of the black family, mismanaged cities, increased crime, etc., etc.

Give me a kick in the ass compassion anyday over the milquetoast enabling compassion of idiots.

Hunh. It is interesting that one who thinks of ignorance as the chief problem and not sin finds compassion of the highest importance. One would think he would find -truth- of the greatest importance, since thats the cure for ignorance.
I prefer Truth-seeking perhaps in part because of my disposition, but sin, which is to miss the mark is certainly mans problem. And according to the old stories, its mans desire to get stuff that he aint ready for yet that messes him up.
Sometimes weve gotta go blind, get a limp or lose a finger before were ready, yaknow, yaknow.
Besides, if the Truth is a person - what could be more important than him? Mercy comes from truth, and thus compassion from truth.

Marxism is a form of communism. The latter has always existed, since mans socialism is ontologically and developmentally prior to his individualism.

“discussing ways we can work toward a common good.” Is that the same as Hillary saying in 2004 beside Kerry “we are going to take some things away from you for the common good”
That term is from the “communist manifesto”..if you take my house to give it to someone else, how in the heck is that common good?
BTW, he has not been invited to lead in any prayers during the Democrat Convention.
He will be taking part in a pro life march with Dr Kings niece.
He had a interesting statement regarding Obama's Saddleback comment.
When Obama said it was above his pay grade, he was avoiding the question, It was not a question of when life begins, but when the child is entitled to human rights.
He also said that every vote Obama took part in, was making a decision on that issue.
I’d gladly pray at a Democratic Party convention. I just don’t think they’d let me get up there and recite the rite of exorcism.
A few yeara ago, the Left harped on about Jerry Fawell and James Dobson needing to stay out of politics. Separation of Church & State was the cry. Now that the Dems are trying to court young evangelicals, where is the cry for Separation of Church & State.
