I suspect they are planning something along those lines when the Olympics are over.

The Chinese are no buddies of Putins. He’d as soon see them in the trash can. Putin does not want an emerging superpower encroaching on his eastern borders.

“’The Russian, Soviet state has never started a war. But even the most peace-loving state should have an effective army.’”

LOL.
How do they manage to say these things with a straight face?

“With the largest nation on earth, with fabulous untapped riches and beauty in Siberia, with a brilliant populace, Russia does not live in the same time and space that we do. Russia still thinks its 1945...”

Highly intelligent...whenever a russian exchange student shows up locally they automatically wind up in the advanced mathematics courses.
Beautiful culture.

And what to they do? Use their intelligence for progress?
Well - some try to I’m sure.
But they are also aborting themselves into oblivion, and I’ve read their alchohol consumption is out of sight.
The economy is black market and russian mafia.

now we’re back to attempting to instill fear with boastful thuggish threats.

nice job Pooty poot.

Very unlikely that whats off your coasts are bears. Bears are very outdated as bombers, and are not used as such anymore, serving now a mostly reconaissance and EW role.

It is likelier that what has been spotted off the coast are either the TU-22M3 Blindfire or the TU-160 Blackjack supersonic bombers, broadly comparable to the US B1 bomber series.

“Could this be a symptom of some kind of internal power struggle ? “

There have been stories recently of megarish russians buying up the most expensive mansions on the riviera - but becoming social pariahs to the locals with their hedonistic behavior.

Forget about John Edward’s “two americas”.

I’m guessing there are “two russias”, and most russians are not enjoying the riviera.
Most are not enjoying a decent house.

It’s not just about money. It’s about pride.

Oh wow. Even the Russian people won’t fall for that bit. It’s a shame so many of them and us will perish for there destructive culture (700 years and counting). And when it is all over, 200k US Servicemen will be required to march around the glass seabed what will once been known as Moscow. That will ensure there stupid, barbaric culture can never surface on earth again...

Ugggg. Condi is the wicked witch of the East. Pelosi, the wicked witch of the West. Some good humor shared by the Lord Jesus Christ a few nights ago. I couldn’t agree more :)

I dunno, what does $800 B and $500 B have to do in common? Both are investments made by China and Russia into the U.S. homemarket through Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. That is a whole heck of a lot of (now Treasury backed meaning the U.S. taxpayer) mortgage securities. An astute investor could perhaps discuss how this could be a problem for our monetary system.

Yeah, but global visions of grandeur allowed a giant sucking sound of wealth out of the USA, along with a good portion of our manufacturing. That tends to favor the Axis at this time and that is not cool at all, especially with the Do-Nothing Congress focused on T Pickens natural gas personal investment with the pals in Washington. Nat gas is good for some things, but tell me, where is the serious designs for nat gas transportation sector? I hear a lot about GM Volt, nuke power, coal liquification/deisel, biodeisel, hydrogen but no natural gas vehicles. As per usually, Democratic commies get us, allies and innocents killed by the real commies. And the Democrats never issue an apology afterwards either, just try it again 40 years later...

Hey Mick, hope you are well! Putin is KGB. Brainwashed. Felt insulted and humiliated for the defeat of his beloved USSR and we bailed them out of economic collapse. Putin upset at US involvment in the Orange Revolution but of course, that was after he revealed his true hand of how he really felt and went on a little targeted killing rampage.

I am not so sure of that. Simply energy grab. Iran will be willfully part of the Bear’s empire. A lot of neighbors of this monstrosity tend to anchor there currency to the strongest player. Consider this a grab for a big prize, the international monetary peg of the globe which the U.S. held for 50 years and is now losing because of Washington corrupt and greedy on housing partnering up with investment banks corrupt and greedy. It’s the money, always about the money.

Indeed. And add the PRC to the mix as well. Those were interesting delegations of Taliban having interesting conversations with PRC generals at the time of Tora Bora.

Disagree to some extent. Right about Putin/USSR/KBM lovefest of pride. However, this is about a prize. The international currency peg of all nations. Those with the oil control the world. And the US hung itself economically on greed from the left/banking system and grandiose visions of global kum-ba-ya on the right/also greed. America is in very rough shape economically. Make no mistake the timing is not a coincidence for there energy grab ambitions. But this shall take time and expect a cease fire with them before Bush leaves office and Netanyahu comes back to power as Prime Minister.
