With five seats on the State Board of Education up for grabs this year, education advocates say how children learn about evolution hangs in the balance -- and who voters choose could affect Kansas' national reputation.
A frequent flip-flop between moderate and conservative majorities on the 10-member board has resulted in the state changing its science standards four times in the past eight years.
Conservatives have pushed for standards casting doubt on evolution, and moderates have said intelligent design does not belong in the science classroom.
In 2007, a new 6-4 moderate majority removed standards that called evolution into question.
This year, none of the three moderates whose seats are up for election are running again. Only one of the two conservative incumbents is running for re-election...

Religious school is for those that want their beliefs taught. Not public school, unless you want everyone’s beliefs taught, then there would be no time for anything else.
You want religion in school, send the kids to a religious school. That is not what the public schools are for. And, yes, many people send their kids to private schools that are science based, thank God for that. But, public schools are neutral ground, respect that.
Both of these groups hate American historical values, and both of these groups worship the Big Government public school monopoly.

Well then, the bible is published by men, its fallible too.
Science is about testing, and proving things wrong via repeat testing. Its a good thing when scientists disprove things, its about learning the facts. Creationism takes a belief, then goes out to try to fit the data to the belief.
No place for that in public school, do it in your church.
Like I think I said, take ‘creationism’ out of the equation here.

Other polls say different. 74% of people with post graduate degrees believe in evolution, 48% of college grads, 50% with some college, 41% with high school or less.
What does that mean? means there are all kinds of surveys out there, that will support whatever you want.

I quite agree. But we shouldn’t allow the equal and opposite error of allowing a pseudo-scientific clique of religious Darwinists to determine what scientific reality is either.
Nothing “pseudo” about evolutionary biology. The facts of evolution are well established and have undergone such rigorous scrutiny that provides such overwhelming support, it’s inconceivable that any rational person could deny its reality.
LOL! Darwin’s ToE is crumbling all around you. Indeed, things have gotten so bad that it’s only a matter of time before your co-religionists are forced to come up with a new theory of evolution. I predict they will hitch their wagons to the growing neo-Lamarckian resurgence. Time will tell. But one thing’s for sure...Darwin’s fairytale is about to be relegated to the dust heap of history.
