Excerpt -

GORI, Georgia, Aug 9 (Reuters) - Russia said it had driven Georgian forces from the capital of South Ossetia on Saturday as part of an operation to force Georgia to accept peace in its breakaway region.

"Tactical groups have fully liberated Tskhinvali from the Georgian military and have started pushing Georgian units beyond the zone of peacekeepers responsibility," Tass quoted Ground Forces commander Vladimir Boldyrev as saying.

Why would the Russians want Iran to have the ability to nuke Moscow?

Think about it.

The missle shield is a provoking act against Russia.

It’s the reverse of the Cuba Missle crisis.

Iran isn’t interested in nuking Poland! Iran wants to nuke Israel!!! And that shield can’t protect Israel way up there in Europe.

You’re talking about how Russia wants the USSR back ... well ... the Feds want to combine Canada, and Mexico with the US. Oh, and then there’s 400 US military bases scattered throughout the world. Russia doesn’t have any of that. So it would appear the US Feds are the imperialist ones.

Well look at what we’ve got here in the US.

A president that leaves our borders open during a time of war where mass killing weapons are a threat.

Obama as the DEM candidate who’s an outright marxist.

Hillary is too.

And McCain, though I implore everyone to vote and support him, isn’t very good on the border either.

Isn't it ironic that you, who vocally defended Serbia's position for years, now betray your Orthodox Christian brothers in Georgia, who face the same situation? You are showing your true colors now. It's not about Serbia, or sovereign rights. It's only about following Putinist Russia blindly in lockstep. Of course the Chechen/Soros/Clinton bogeyman is ready at hand to justify every abuse and aggression by Putin.

Please answer me one question:

What do you make of Russia's support for America's enemies, Iran, Syria, Hezbollah, Hamas, North Korea and Venezuela. Also please justify the situation in Belarus.

If Putin is such a good "Christian" and so bravely anti-Islamic like his lackeys here claim, why is he supporting the Iranian regime and it's proxies? Hmmm?

I’m amazed by the amount of racism towards Russians here.

We don’t have a dog in this fight between Russia and Georgia. It’s basicaly no different than two Scandinavian countries duking it out.

Duh! Have you ever considered "nuclear blackmail"? If Iran can send nuclear missiles on defenseless European capitals they can blackmail the Europeans to fulfill each and every wish and whim of the Mullahs. It's not about actually thwarting the unlikely case of an Iranian nuke attack. It's about avoiding a situation in which Iran can blackmail Europe. And we know that MAD doesn't work with Islamic lunatics. We need to demonstrate them the futility of an attempted blackmail/attempt. That's only possible with Missile Defense.

What makes you think the Russians are supporting these Muslims? The Russians don’t want them to have the power to nuke Moscow - think about it!

It’s propaganda that the Iranians are supported by the Russians. US and Russian companies are cutting deals and supplying countries through the Middle East and northern Africa. The US Feds have been supplying weapons to the muzzies for a long, long time.

When the Russians fought the Afghan muzzies, the US Gov supplied state-of-the-art weaponry that killed many an 18-year old Russian boy.

That idea totally makes sense. If that’s the case then why not set up the systems in Italy or Greece. They’re much further south, and in better position to tackle incomming missles?

The fact that the systems are to be positioned way up north and East towards Russia is pretty telling. It’s like having a neighbor with a machine gun pointed at your house.

Bwahaha! The cry of those who have no argument: "racism"! Sounds just like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and Obama here. The only racists here are the chauvinistic thugs in the Kremlin.

We don’t have a dog in this fight between Russia and Georgia. It’s basicaly no different than two Scandinavian countries duking it out.

Ah yes, the Putin-pawns trying to distract the gullible Americans from the problem. The Caucasus is the narrow bottleneck between neo-Imperialist Russia and the Middle East and simultaneously the bridge from the Caspian to the Black see. The strategic location, the pipelines and the fact that an ally who send the third largest contingent to the central front of the WoT, is being invaded by the master of our enemies, sure as heck make this an issue for America.

I guess however that you are more identifying with Moscow.

You cannnot have it both ways...are you delusional?
Islamofascist Checnya: defeated by Russia

In the meantime the US continues sending billions to Saudi Arabia and Pakistan which fund and support terrorism and in the case of the Saudis are buying up our financial institutions.

Wake up.

Good post. I’ve liked the Russians but Putin’s power grabs and bullying and allying with Iran is beyond the pale. I have less sympathy for Russia every day

Russian people support Putin

Sorry, but much of the Iraq war as well as Desert Storm was about oil for US corporations too. That’s the truth. I got tired of defending these two wars to the liberals and saw that there were a bunch of holes and that there is a war for oil element. You can’t judge Russia when the US Gov is doing the exact same thing on a more massive scale!

The Russian people support Putin because he’s looking out for them!

Millions of Russians have come out of poverty and a middle class is rapidly growing.

The Russians have a flat tax, we have a progressive income tax which targets the producers of society.

The Russians have put Christianity back in the schools while we have taken God out of public life. It’s taboo in advertising to say Christmas Tree here in the US!

The Russians are cracking down on illegal immigration, whereas the US refuses.

Yes Putin is basicaly seen as a strong man because Russia doesn’t want outside influence. They don’t want transnational corporations running their media. We in the US are in deep sh@t if China and Saudia Arabia pull their financial assets out of the US.

Prove it. Show me sources and evidence that to the widely reported and by Israel and the US lamented Russian aid to Iran, Syria and Venezuela is "just propaganda". I can give you evidence until you choke. You are claiming it's false? PROVE IT. (BTW the Soviet's had also NO problem arming the Arab's to the teeth against Israel.) Do you actually believe what you are saying? I doubt it. You are lying shamelessly.

When the Russians fought the Afghan muzzies, the US Gov supplied state-of-the-art weaponry that killed many an 18-year old Russian boy.

Boohoo. Put the blame on the Soviet "leadership" who aggressively invaded Afghanistan. "Many an 18-year old" German boy died fighting the Soviets. What's your take on this? What about "many an 18-year old" Polish boys?

>In fact it’s real purpose is obviously to contain Russia and China who have the real potential.

Total garbage.

The major powers are constrained by the thousands of nukes deployed to project the Mutual Assured Destruction policy, aka “MAD.”

This shield is intended to stop Iran from threatening Europe, period.

If you do not see that, then I question your acumen or your honesty.
