The very worst situation I can recall of political power-madness overcoming common decency was the Kopechne parents helping the Kennedy clan cover up the Swimmer’s murder of their own daughter! Disgusting degraded horrible people.
I agree. The only reason I feel a bit differently about Elizabeth is that if she dies (God willing she will not and will have many years in front of her), this jerk of a husband and Father is all these kids have (horrible human that he is!). I guess given that situation, I am willing to cut her some slack, but only her and only for that reason.
I often wonder if the Kopechne parents were worried about other facts coming out about their daughter and this lead them to behave as they did not wanting her reputation to be tarnished are there are many that still to this day feel that she was not unfortunate and was simply being offered a lift home afer work.
