I agree, who do you think would be on the Turks side?
We killed Christian Serbs in favor of Muslim Albanians who had settled in Kosovo and gradually pushed the Serbs out of their own traditional homeland. Some day in the not too distant future we will have to pay the piper when the Mexican community in the Southwest demand the same right. That is the right to secede from the US on the basis of their majority in certain areas of some or whole states of the union.

“TBILISI (Reuters) - Russian forces control part of the capital of breakaway South Ossetia, the Georgian interior ministry said on Friday, after Russia sent forces over its border to repel a Georgian assault on separatists.
Ministry spokesman Shota Utiashvili said Russian forces were shelling Georgian troops “from tanks and airplanes”.
“We control part of the town, the Russians another,” Utiashvili said of the besieged capital, Tskhinvali.

I can see the international community reigning this in...but the tough part is that the mood of the Russian people is very nationalistic right now and their President (and the real brain, his Prime Minister) is ready to oblige them and eager to look tough.
I’m not sure the Georgians are in as much trouble as I think they are, but if I were Russia’s Air Force Chief of Staff, I’d have a ton of Fulcrums and Flankers all over Georgia looking for attack aircraft and helicopters to shoot down.
...”and strafed a Russian humanitarian aid convoy.”
Oooooh, comic relief.
You know when Obama's image implodes because of this foreign policy gem of genius, you just know there will be a liberal moonbat accusing Hillary of plotting with Putin to invade Georgia and cause a distraction.

“MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russian armored vehicles have entered the Northern edges of the breakaway Georgian region of South Ossetia, the separatists’ press service reported on its website cominf.org on Friday.
“Russian armored vehicles have entered the northern suburbs of Tskhinvali,” the website reported.
“According to eyewitnesses ... Georgian troops have started to retreat from the positions they occupied,” the website said.

The pipeline that was bombed in Turkey yesterday...Was it this same pipeline?
Don't forget that most of these large international news agencies have been known to 'root' for the Russians in these situations.
Jeez. This guy really is not "Ready to Lead on Day 1".
This is all so fluid every report has to be taken with a grain of salt. Both sides have a picture they want to paint of what is happening and why.
Unconfirmed report from another site (huge grain of salt):
” According to an eyewitness in the Russian Army, a pair of Russian Mi-24’s with ground surface-to-air and air support attacked Georgian armored column advancing to Tshinvali. Up to 30 Georgian vehicles including 3 tanks and 8 BMP’s destroyed. Also Georgians lost 2 SU-25’s, one shot down by MiG, another one by SAm while trying to engage the above mentioned Mi-24’s”
You may be right- and Russia may find a face-saving way to back off- but..with Russia and Putin- you just never know.
“Georgia-Russia conflict could be drawn out”

1. I don’t think that the administration will defend it, but just try to stop the fighting.
2. No matter what one thinks of the Kosovo intervention, it is really odd to see people talk about it as if we just decided to bomb some quiet Christian towns one day. I remember us plinking Serbian tanks, but I don’t recall the Serbs plinking a lot of Kosovar tanks. I also figure that if you take the wrong side in a war, you don’t end up finding a lot of mass graves after the war that were filled with civilians by your enemy.
An argument that we should have stayed out of it is just dandy. Calling the Serbs “Christians” in this context reminds me of the fact that Hitler Stalin and Mussolini were all supposedly Catholics.
3. The conclusion in your second paragraph is downright silly.
OMG that’s hilarious...and yet..I expect Kos will be implying that by the end of the day!
Hi Mom!
That is funny!
Is now the time when OLAS tosses out the magic gummi bears of peace? LOL
From another site (poster in Russia):
“Ossetian sources claim that Georgian lost at least 30 tanks, number of Georgian troops killed are incalculable.”
“Tshinvali completely freed from Georgian troops.”
But it’s called Capitalism. Providing the consumer what he wants. Certainly that is heartily supported by FReepers!
It’s the consumer who is to blame. Do you hear many complaining about tire gauges and Paris Hilton coverage?
Analysis: energy pipeline that supplies West threatened by war Georgia conflict

It was the same pipeline that was bombed in Turkey yesterday.
This is very scary imho. I hope America wakes up fast to the very real threat that the democrats pose to our country.
