Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth About Homosexuality is calling on church and political leaders to confront the unhealthy lifestyle choices contributing to the majority of the country's HIV infections.
The 17th International AIDS Conference will wrap up in Mexico City on Friday (August 8). In attendance is California mega-church pastor Rick Warren who says HIV-AIDS is a "global pandemic" that the church can help solve by "show[ing] compassion, kindness and the love of Christ." However, Peter LaBarbera says while he commends the idea of a church-based effort to fight AIDS in Africa, he is troubled that many church and political leaders are afraid to take on the primary source of the AIDS problem in the United States.
"We know that homosexual behavior and homosexual promiscuity are linked to AIDS. A very obvious connection is brought out in the CDC statistics [see related video report], and yet nobody in any position of authority -- and that would include the White House -- seems to want to deal with taking action against the sources of spreading HIV here in the United States," LaBarbera points out.
Senator Tom Coburn (R-Oklahoma) says sending 116 federal employees to the conference was a huge waste, costing taxpayers half a million dollars, including a $100,000 registration fee and $80,000 for airfare. Coburn suggests that the money could have instead been used to "prevent 59,136 newborns from becoming infected with HIV" or could have provided treatment to all 35 Americans on a waiting list for AIDS drugs.
AIDS, the 99.999% preventable disease. But hey, it’s all Bush’s fault. Right?
“The fact is that rates of AIDS and HIV would drastically fall if peoples behavior changed......”Weve been hearing about condoms and safe sex for over 20 years now. Has the message not penetrated? Do people think before they do whatever with whomever?”
My own belief is that the message has in fact been heard, everywhere, by everyone and yet, unfortunately, it is even now ignored by far too many people. What they must be thinking when they knowingly ignore that message is hard to imagine.
Ahh now there is an image, Rick Warren Exhorter to Righteousness...to be sure...
Showing compassion is great, calling to repentance is much more difficult...I wonder which one Warren will call for?

Yes. Warren is the new hula-hoop in religion until the next one comes along.
He will call for whatever snakeoil he can sell.
The root cause of AIDS is the use of human orifices in applications for which they clearly were not designed.
When grown adults are made fully aware of a voluntary activity that will lead to their death and they do it any way, all that can be done has been done.
There’s no such thing as safe sex.
Also part of the problem.
Sometimes the truth hurts.
But if people were truly concerned about AIDS, they would speak the truth about behavior. and just “safe” sex (misnomer). For “activists” “journalists” and politicians to feign horror at AIDS while avoiding the frank talk about promiscuity and homosexuality tells me they really aren’t all that concerned.
I remember an incident long ago where my lib (straight) BIL was telling about a bumper sticker he saw. He was outraged. The bumper sticker had text that read “Stop AIDS” and had the standard red circle slash over some stick figures engaged in homosexual activity.
He was outraged and clearly upset as he declared “It’s not true! It’s not true!”.
Obviously, he wouldn’t be as upset if he didn’t know that it WAS true, but it caused a cognitive dissonance with his liberal indoctrination that he’d immersed himself in.
FYI
AIDS can be eliminated by three simple steps:
1. Require that everyone pass a test in simple plumbing.
They will learn the difference between “male” and “female”
fittings... Male into Female....NOT Male into Male.
2. Require that everyone pass a test demonstrating they have
sound understanding of the difference between Recreational
areas and waste disposal toxic zones.
3. Teach everyone to give up drugs that are injected, and to not exchange needles with other users.
I thought massive prostitution - or the CIA
Thanks for the ping! Unfortunately, I was out of town when this article was posted. If you see anything else like it, please give me another ping.
All the best—GGG
I don’t think they pretend otherwise anymore; they just ignore it.
Did anyone get the 116/100,000 = ~$1,000 per attendee in registration for a convention?
