In any case, from what I read, sugar cane is a much better source for ethanol -- produces far more energy per pound (or whatever the appropriate measure is) than corn.
Research is being done right now on algae and the results are very promising. MUCH more energy per pound than sugar cane or corn.

I heard them talking about the politico article on FNC this morning. It's an outrage! Pelosi is telling (D) Congressmen in private that, if their congressional seat is in jeopardy, they should tell their constituents they support drill here drill now and let Pelosi be the fall guy.
I love the last paragraph of the politico article:
"Democrats are also comforted somewhat by the fact that crude oil prices have gone down more than 10 percent from their summer highs, and if the U.S. economy enters a recession, prices may fall further due to slackening demand."
There it is folks! The Democrats are "comforted" by the thought that our economy may enter a recession! I'd expect Rush Limbaugh to be all over this today!

The Envirowacko Wing of the Democrat Party is the primary problem:
Greens Thwart Gasoline Production
"... The Sierra Club and the Natural Resources Defense Council, or NRDC, successfully pressured the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to block ConocoPhillips expansion of its Roxana, Ill., gasoline refinery, which processes heavy crude oil from Canada, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday.
The project would have expanded the volume of Canadian crude processed from 60,000 barrels per day to more than 500,000 barrels a day by 2015. After the Illinois EPA had approved the expansion, the green groups petitioned the federal EPA to block it, alleging ConocoPhillips wasnt using the best available technology for reducing emissions of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides.
Apparently, the plants planned 95 percent reduction in sulfur dioxide emissions and 25 percent reduction in nitrogen oxides wasnt green enough..."

It is worse than that.
Demcrats are using the fact there is no vote as a concealment. Also they are REJOICING AT THE US BECOMING LIKE THE THIRD WORLD.

No one in Rep. Ted Poe's offices know what his schedule is this week. Unheard of. I told them to tell him he needs to get his butt back on the hill!
He made some darn good comments last Friday afternoon but has now dissappeared.

A vote for any Democrat is a vote for Pelosi to stay in power. This message needs to be drummed into the head of Americans.

Pelosi: With skyrocketing gas prices, it is clear that the American people can no longer afford the Republican rubber-stamp Congress and its failure to stand up to the Republican big oil and gas company cronies
.
Democrats have a common-sense plan to help bring down skyrocketing gas prices by cracking down on price gouging, rolling back the billions of dollars in taxpayer subsidies, tax breaks and royalty relief given to big oil and gas companies, and increasing production of alternative fuels.

I see that’s a quote from some source. I was amazed anybody might think the Democrats would leave the change in our pockets LOL.

this is the type of information the Texas Tea Party could bring to the fore front.
Actually since energy independence is a security issue, congress should act...
