We who obsess over universal health coverage may soon confront a startling development: The only candidate on a major-party presidential ticket to have proposed and implemented a universal plan could well be a Republican. I speak of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, now high on the list of John McCain's possible running mates.

His name is Eric Cantor, not Eddie, and he has solid credentials. Plus, he’s very good-looking and 46.
Not only that.. but Mitt already has the support of Conservative talk radio.
McCain really doesn’t have that “whole hearted” support yet.
Rush, Sean, Ann, The Natioanl Review, Levin..
They would be pounding it every day..
He would. Romney is not afraid to be sharp. He has impressed me with recent comments on Hannity - he GETS it. He was sharp against his primary opponents and he will be 10 times more so against Obama and whatever unfortunate gets the loser job of being Obama’s VP pick.
I’m iffy on Romney but I do appreciate that he lives his life in much the way that true Christians are supposed to.
Too bad you don’t have any solid proof that he sinks the ticket.
All you have to do is look at the primaries.
Mitt got the Conservative vote every time.
I am writing this in conjunction with Kavon, but according to several sources, Romney is the VP pick.
Remember who broke this story first.

Baloney. I don’t buy it. You remind me of Lincoln’s saying, “All of the people all of the time.” Some will just not be pleased. Well, I’m sorry. We are trying to win. That doesn’t happen by picking a person who gets a very small amount of people even VERY, VERY excited.
I agree. I think the only thing a Dem VP could do to preserve her self-respect in a debate against Romeny would be to adhere strictly to the Mark Twain axiom that it is better to keep one’s mouth shut and be considered a fool than to open it and dispel any doubt.
Good day to you, Mr. Bates. :-)
I wish I had that much love as their family does. Truly wonderful.
I read that!
I’m hopeful that Romney being the pick is and has been a done deal.
I don’t support liberals. If you want to that is your choice.
That is hilarious. Mitt Romney - he’s no John Edwards.
Why before the DNC?........
Cool, very cool. I like happy (not stuffy) people. :-)
I don’t know. If this is true, McCain has decided and it was not supposed to be disclosed. That’s all I can think.
