House Republicans are still there, raising cain- trying to get them to turn the lights back on and continue debating over drilling!!!

I just called and said "There's a Republican revolt going on int the House Chamber and I wasn't seeing much coverage of it." I got a run around on it. Was told several times "There are no cameras on now. Cameras are not allowed." I objected, politely, that the story could still be covered.
He seemed mildly irritated that I would question that and asked if I wanted to talk to (name garbled) and I said yes. Got a phone tree that led to leaving a recorded message. I did...
"There's a Republican revolt going on in the House Chamber. I understand that the cameras are turned off. You can still cover the story. Thank you."

With the public viewing galleries shutting down for the night, Rep. Kevin Brady has just invited everyone down to the House floor to keep the protest going.
It has been quite the scene on the House floor this afternoon, as GOP staff members have kept the chamber filled with an eclectic assortment of people.
Boy Scouts, members of the German army, stray tourists and even members in shorts and t-shirts have all been spotted on the floor at different times.
While Democrats have privately decried the breakdown in order, Republicans defended the protest.
“You are not witnessing a revolt,” said Rep. Mike Pence. “You are witnessing democracy in action.”
Rep. Donald Manzullo also delivered a passionate speech, saying today was his late father’s birthday.
After relating how his father, an Italian immigrant, came to live in Illinois and own a little grocery store, Manzullo brought the crowd to its feet with this line: “The people of this country are rising up and saying, ‘We want our country back!’”

Madam Speaker:
In plain and simple terms I would like you to know what an average American thinks about your 5 week vacation starting today; I DO NOT LIKE IT ONE BIT!
For several weeks, your leadership has been pathetic. You refuse to do the people’s work and take an up or down vote on energy policy (specifically offshore drilling) and today you have decided it is acceptable to leave for vacation with your work unfinished. If I did that, I would lose my job.
Worse still, you refuse to accept any kind of political discourse and shut off the lights, microphones, and media cameras on the floor of the House chambers. I find these actions deplorable and unacceptable. We do not live in the People’s Republic of China where the leaders of the country chose for us what news we may see or may not see. We do not have State run medias that allow politicians to filter the news and sanitize it for “accepted viewing.” If the hard working members, including 17 of your own party, feel the need to do their constituents work, you should let them. If they feel the need to stay on the chamber floors with the lights, microphones, and TV cameras running, you should let them. You are the speaker for ALL Americans, and that means even if you do not agree with them.
Better yet, I hope you would call the House back into session to fix the problems that Americans are facing. Listen to your constituents, which, again since you are the Speaker of the House, are all the American people.
I hope you enjoy your vacation but I hope you feel the empty pit in your stomach for letting the average, hard working American people down by your unexplainable actions.
