Let It be Romney, Please!
Human Events ^ | July 30, 2008 | Bay Buchanan

John McCain has five weeks to choose his Vice Presidential running mate. Typically the most a presidential candidate can hope for is a partner who does him no harm. That criteria having been met, the choice is only important if the race is close; landslides aren’t caused or prevented by vice presidential candidates.

So the question for John McCain is who, if anyone can significantly influence Americans to vote Republican in November. The answer is Mitt Romney -- and for many more reasons than that he can deliver Michigan’s 17 electoral votes to the Republican column for the first time since 1988.

He could be the only politician in America who has only ever slept with ONE woman, has never done drugs or alcohol.

For some reason that I can’t quite fathom, there are millions of Republican voters who just can’t stand Romney. Is it his flexible stance on abortion maybe?

The same can be said about McCain, Thompson, Huckaby, Rudy, et al. The sad truth is not one of the Republicans who was running gained overwhelming support. There are a good many who do like Romney, he was my third choice. The question now is, would he be a good pick for VP. Personally, I think so. McCain is notoriously bad on economic issues, someone like Romney is very strong on that point. Given this I think he is an ideal choice.

I think the abortion litmus test on a VP candidate is foolish. Mostly because the president has very little power in doing anything about it, and the VP has no power in the issues at all. Any real changes in laws would first have to get through congress, and then past the almighty Supreme Cort.

We need to focus on big issues nationally, such as energy, immigration, and the economy. Social issues like abortion and the homosexual perversion of marriage, although important, are best dealt with on a local and state level where real changes can take place.

Obama is also good looking..

He’s smart and well educated...

He has more political experience than Romney..

He is a national figure...Romney is just local...

He’s young and healthy for real...doesnt just “look” that way after a years supply of Botox and Shoe Leather colored Grecian Formula..

Obama is young enough to be Romney’s son...

And he looks good in his great clothes...

He definitely looks presidential..

He is a great speaker...

He is not afraid of a mic...

He did great in the debates...

He has been married to only one wife...

He has great looking children...

All the non-bigots are going to vote for him...

Sorry McCain..

The 90% in Utah belongs to Obama...

;)

I know you feel strongly on this subject, and I'm not going to try and change your mind.

I'll use an analogy instead.

Take McCain, and his stance on amnesty. This issues drives me up the wall. If Obama was not as dangerous as he is, I would even consider a protest vote.

Instead of not voting for McCain, because of a single litmus test issue, I'll do my part to pressure him into seeing it our way.

The same can be said for abortion. If the candidate is otherwise a good one, but disagrees with you on the issues, then at least you know where they stand and can apply the appropriate pressure to them when they are in office.

I don't know if calling, and writing letters actually works, but we got our message though on the amnesty bill.

thank you for posting.
I don’t read your posts. You have a terrific hate for Mitt, probably more than I adore him.

Sometimes people change their minds, but not usually when filled with the kind of hate you have for him.

Here is hoping you get to live with him as PRESIDENT!

Wait a minute, please, no, not Romney!!! Isn’t he a, well, you know, one of them spooky Mormons??

Heck, we might lose the South if Romney were picked. We can’t lose the South, cuz that’s where the boiled peanuts and Baptists come from. After the weirdness of Huckafreak, I’m not sure what to think of Baptists anymore, but I sure don’t want live in a world without boiled peanuts.

I think McCain shouldn’t pick a VP at all, and that way if something bad happens, Nasty Nancy can run the world.

Of course Obamadamn is going to win anyway....I mean, can 90+% of the black folks be wrong????

Shouldn’t we all vote for Obama anyway.....he’s black, and this is a really, really important time for that color of skin, you know.

More evidence of the sad decline of Bay Buchanan.

Romney would be a disaster as VP or president.

He's got a "flexible stance" on just about everything. And that's just a nice way of saying he has absolutely no core values.

He is a fighter and excellant campaigner.

More Myth-ology. A guy who out-spends his opponent nearly 5-1 and still loses can be called a lot of things. But an excellent campaigner isn't one of them.

Romney is a liberal doppleganger in a conservative suit. Compared to him, McCain is the second coming of Reagan.
