An earthquake is now rocking the Southern California area. (I'm near Dodger Stadium)
As I post this, the USGS has not yet determined the epicenter so click on the link above for the exact location and magnitude from the USGS.

Here are the maps for California and Los Angeles:

6.07 would be 90 times stronger than this 5.8

6.7 (not 6.07) would be about 90x stronger.

Saw some film of Yosemite with some tourists, smoky city.. the smoke is blowing in from the fire that is about 20 to 25 miles west of the park. It’s burned up a few dozen houses and buildings so far.. It’s a bad situation for sure..

I head for the front landing. We live on a hillside, and if something should go I’m jumping ship.

BUT he says “I can now report a NUMBER of AFTERSHOCKS”....

He's as bad as this L.A. news idiot named Paul Moyer was during the OJ Bronco chase....a camera caught Al Cowlings driving, and Moyer breathlessly reported, "We can now confirm to our viewers that there's at least one person in that Bronco!"

No, he is a mathematician and usually doesn’t notice anything less than a mistake in variation of parameters.

USGS just changed it to a 5.4 quake near Chino Hills. It was a pretty good shaker though. Shook things up pretty well here on the 3rd floor where I live. It started off slow and rolling followed by a sharp jolt. I’m about 40 miles from Chino Hills to the south. Have not felt any aftershocks as yet.

“Well you left out Big Oil, Drugs and Food!”

I guess they factor into this as well, but since these are controlled by Bush, it’s still ultimately his fault.

You see, this is really a message that Bush is sending to Pelosi. He had an atomic bomb detonated deep undeground on the fault line (ala Lex Luther) in order to trigger the earthquake. This is to show her what will happen to her city if she continues blocking his ambition to become the Lord and Master of All the World.

(sarcasm off)

“I’ll take a earthquake over a hurricane or tornado anyday.”

Hmmm, not me. Tornados are terrible and not much warning. Hurricanes are terrible, but plenty of warning. Earthquake, no warning except for the dogs gettin’ antsy.

Lived through plenty of earthquakes in my 23 years in SoCal. Finally moved far away from them to NC in 2003....only to be hit by Hurricane Isabel! I’ll take hurricanes over the CA fires and earthquakes any day of the week!

“It sure felt much stronger than 5.8. We’ve had aftershocks of that magnitude following earlier quakes than were hardly noticed.”

I agree (though I live close to this one’s epicenter). I just got off the phone with a friend in Long Beach. We both assessed that this one felt as strong as the beginning of Northridge’s in 94’. If I remember correctly, it seemed like Northridge started at the same level and then seemed to pick up some force as it went on, or maybe that was just our perception in looking back on it. One thing’s for sure, I haven’t felt anything that strong since Northridge.
