As I post this, the USGS has not yet determined the epicenter so click on the link above for the exact location and magnitude from the USGS.

No, the photo is from the 1994 Northridge quake. Sorry for confusion!

Is big an official designation? What if the next one is over 6.0? Would that be really big? No - that falls into the "Extremely Series" class.

You graciously apologized...and it should be accepted.
I'm hoping this isn't a fore shock. But maybe God is giving us a heads up for the big one?

I just hate seeing all those fire reports. It’s heartbraking to see the devastation over the past months and now near Yosemite as well.
I pray this eq was just a stress reliever by mother nature.

I'll never forget the threads on Katrine a couple summers ago, when watching Shep.
He was being so dramatic, and I speculated that in a few minutes he would find a dog that was abandoned and lamented its misfortune.
Within two minutes of that post he showed the audience two dogs left abandoned.

I just talked with my DIL in Northridge - she was in the market, and shampoo bottles started flying at her. Of course in Northridge, it’s no doubt a deja vu feeling......

None of that was infer-able from your post. However, apology accepted...
BTW I am honestly worried because I have immediate family in Chino. Hopefully my husband has been able to contact them.

I spoke to relatives in Yorba Linda (5 miles out from epicenter) and they’re all fine. A few things fell over.

Dig out a tutorial on the Richter scale. A 5.8 is considerably stronger than a 5.2.
To: TenthAmendmentChampion
Generally yes. If the San Andreas fault cuts loose, there will be a whole lot of shaking going on.
