Sorry - this should have read:
Moreover, admitting his guilt is honorable and the right thing to do, because the Democrats NEVER do that.

Stevens is a crook and a pork fiend who has cost his country billions. He will not be missed. You bet.

“4. Republican voters need to demand a house-cleaning of party officials to restore faith that they are committed to doing the honest thing.”
100% correct.

I've heard similar stories about Stevens, that he tried to throw his weight around with the military and would try and force military personnel to bend over backwards for him. Good riddance to him (and his son and his buddies, hopefully).
I'm surprised at some who want to point fingers at the Democrats and give Stevens a bit of a break, as if that makes it all better - they are like children who get caught doing something they shouldn't be doing and then try and say "but Timmy, and Mary, and Tommy did it, so that means it's not as bad, right?"
Personally, I wish we held the GOP to much higher standards (i.e. get rid of the lobbyists and other negative influences).

I believe both Stevens and the other Republican senator in Alaska are both up for re-election. Such a shame. Stevens was one of Alaska’s “founding fathers.”

I was thinking the same thing.

I wasn't talking about Bush, I was referring to the next president. In all reality President Bush has got done probably 70% of his political agenda but I don't think that the next president will get done 5% of their agenda. The congress is at a stalemate because the Rats won't budge on any type of compromise, including offshore drilling.

FR commentrary here has sunk to the level of DU. They have indictments, no convictions. You can indict a ham sandwich.
Most of the whining BS on this thread was by people who don't know anything about Stevens, or Alaska, typical RINO squeal. Check the commentary from what state their from. Alaska and Hawaii were the the last two states to be admitted to the union. Their needs are far different from what goes on in mainland America. New Mexico was the last state to enter from mainland America back in 1912, You can at least drive across that state. More land in private ownership in Russia by percentage, than in Alaska.
Maybe I could be a carpet bagger like shillary and come tell you how to run your state? Whatever happened to the 9th and 10th amendments, or does Alaska not count?

Do their needs include $400 million bridges that are incredibly ridiculous? (although they do make those around Stevens quite a bit of money)
Thankfully Sarah Palin, a Republican, put an end to that bridge.

Everybody knows about this because the liberal press is putting this on the front page. But McCain can make lemonade out of lemons. He can denounce Stevens and show leadership and illustrate ethical behavior for the public. It could mean the difference of losing Republican seats and winning them.
