My son had this done at 6 months old. They removed every other finger in the center of his skull. The sides of the skull connect together like a zipper and his were already grown shut, so there was no room for growth. They added some sort of human epoxy to fill in the gaps. He is 20 years old now and loves to show off his scar, as he usually has just a stubble of hair on his head. No ill side effects at all. The surgeon who did our son, did it by himself and didn’t need a ton of people to help. They just bandaged him up and said don’t drop him on his head. This doctor had done many before. My son does still have problems with hats, as he usually needs the largest size, but he is a big guy.

We had a kid in school whose head was inordinately larger than the rest of us. Of course his nickname was “Punkin Head”...........
