Thank you, Lady Jag!
Shelley has never liked my parents' pool -- now this is a story that's going to sound funny, but I tell it for what it's worth.
I worked at an agility trial one time when they were offering free lunch (and a free sweatshirt!) to everybody who worked. So then I had the $5 I had brought for lunch burning a hole in my pocket. There was a lady who had set up as a "Canine Communicator" a/k/a Doggie Psychic, so I plopped down my 5 bucks.
Among other things, she said that Shelley wasn't AFRAID of swimming pools but didn't like them because she fell into one as a puppy. I protested that she'd never been near a pool til she was almost 2 . . . and the lady said, "she's laughing at you."
It wasn't until much later that I remembered that when Shelley boarded with her first trainer as a puppy of about 3 months old, and her trainer told me when I picked her up that she and another Lab managed to unsnap the cover off the hot tub and get in. And that they were the first dogs who had ever managed to do that . . . . sneaky Labs!
She wouldn’t get in on her own at first. We kept teaching her how to get to the steps and now she will jump in and go towards me until I tell her to go to the steps. I do sometimes have to point her in the right direction. She still mostly likes to run up and down the pool barking while we swim but then will all of sudden just jump in. She always watches me and swims right for me.
I learned something else about her yesterday. I was just playing around with my daughter but Belle thought I was hurting her and she went ballistic. I had to calm her down and keep telling her I was only playing. She kept barking fiercely right at me as though she was telling me off. All I was doing was hugging my daughter and kissing her all over her face but the way my daughter squeals, Belle must have thought I was hurting her.
Thanks and good luck!
Everyone.....I'm relying on my feeling that all of you who are having fun reading and participating in this contest have already sent in your personal donation to FR.....or will do it now.
Assure me you are contributing.....or I'll get the vapours, eek, and will have to resort to popping some of my Lydia Pinkham Vegetable Compound pills before I swoon.

Unfortunately, by petting her and calming her, you're putting her in the position of boss dog -- by being (as she thinks) conciliatory and apologetic.
Next time she tries that, tell her to "sit" or "down" and make her stay, with the leash under your foot if you have to. She doesn't have any right to tell you off as leader of the pack.
You might want to consult with a professional trainer about her pecking order issues! We nipped that nonsense in the bud with Ruby -- but I had already dealt with a bossy dog (just not as bossy as Ruby!)
20 minute 'downs' while you're watching TV (or posting on FR) might be a good idea.
Don't hit that stuff ...
... on my account! I upped my monthly today and I'm happy to be a dollar-a-day guy now.
Now I see why all the pale ladies of that day were so gay.

(See my tagline, freeper friends).
Oh, it sells for a dollar a bottle,
Which is very cheap you see,
And if it does not cure you,
She'll sell you six for three.
There's a baby in every bottle,
So the old quotation ran,
But the Federal Trade Commission
Still insists you need a man . . .
Oh, we'll sing of Lydia Pinkham,
And her love for the human race,
How she sells her Vegetable Compound,
And the papers they publish, they publish, they publish her face.
Thanks A BUNCH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lydia Pinkham Herbal Compound And it still has her picture on the label!
It is a subdivision of Johnson & Johnson!
I guess it isn't 15% alcohol any more - at least the tablets aren't!

Nascar made the Bush team change their Carb.Bush has lead the entire race as of first 119 laps.Guess they will have to go to cheve engines next.......
Just donated while visiting sunny San Diego :-)
At least iron oxide and epsom salts weren’t likely to do anybody any harm!
Oh by the way I also run a non-profit boxing club for kids in town. It keeps a lot of high risk kids and kids that just don't fit in busy during the after school hours. We get them out of town traveling to near by states, paid by us to compete in bouts. It's a blast, and the brat is the team mascot.
Your limerick was so good I'm going to vote for you in November!
