Dr. Q has a theory about how to cure cancer that he cant wait to tell me.
I look around at his lab assistants, their faces a rainbow of colors intense, smart, listening. Their parents come from many parts of the world. Dr. Q has chosen them to test his theory: that a team of scientists from a diversity of backgrounds might find a cure for cancer more quickly, because each would see the problem differently.
The lab at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore were all gathered in belongs to Dr. Alfredo Quinones-Hinojosa Dr. Q. He is one of the best brain surgeons in the world, but two decades ago, his hands were picking vegetables for $22 a day. Quinones was a migrant worker, living under an old camper top in the middle of a California field.

MEGABUMP!
They never talk about “opportunity” cost in these stories.
1. How did he pay for Harvard? If not, did he get US taxpayer money? Did he pay back the subsidies?
2. Were legal citizens displaced from a seat in the medical program, as a result?
3. Wasn’t this cutting in line?
4. Is an American who might have become a neurosurgeon using that seat & resources now poorer as a result?
etc.
One illegal becomes a brain surgeon. So, how many million illegals should be given amnesty because of this?
But maybe this story should be passed along to Juan McCain. He can tell it right after he refuses to deport any illegal aliens because of the one illegal alien mother whose son was said to be MIA in Iraq.
It's remarkable because it is remarkable. The other 19,999,999 million of them will just be....Mexicans who want to get onto U.S. handout programs, and vote to make it so.
But a few little notes....
How come he didn't go home to Mexico for medical school? UNAM is actually well known for its medical school - lots of Americans, displaced by foreigners and race based preferences, go there. They just have to actually pay for the education.
Which brings up another little topic: was this guy admitted to Harvard 'cuz he's so durn smart, or because of his brown skin and immigration criminal backstory?
I think the latter is sorta obvious. The competition to get into any UC system school and then medical school at Harvard is rather beyond intense. I've known some of the smartest people on the planet (multiple engineering degrees from Stanford, for example) who didn't get into that medical school. I'd be really surprised if his academic performance alone put him there.
Once again, all part of the Hate Americans agenda of the Gramscian Marxist elite in this country: "see, illegals are better than you, stupid gringo's! Now get back to work and let us run things, life will be better under Mexican Socialism".
Dont tear down a fence, until you know why it was put up. African proverb
He is one of the best brain surgeons in the world,”
And just how was that determined, and by whom?
Can we build walls? he asks rhetorically. Sure, we're gonna build walls. Can we make em taller? Sure, we can make em taller. Would that be a solution? As long as there's poverty, and as long as people are dying of hunger in other places, it's human nature. They will try to find better ways.
Why are people successful here, and starving in Mexico? Obviously there are a lot of silly socialist answers to that question, but they're obviously hollow and unbelievable.
People need to keep asking that question.
By a rocket scientist...
He says that as long as there is poverty people will find "better ways", which we are supposed to intuit means "break into the other guy's country and guilt trip him into paying for me".
If that's "smart", then every Mafia guy is a genius.
The answer to the problem is to overthrow the MEXICAN Gov’t, get rid of the crooks and improve conditions in Mexico so these people will stay home!!!
I bet he’s proud of this country, too.
$22.00 per day? That was not bad money so long ago.
This doctor was featured on “Hopkins” which is a summer replacement on ABC.....pretty good actually. As for the doctor...make him pay for whatever education he got and didn’t pay for and then deport his a$$.
I know this really great story about a guy who robbed a bank.
He went to college and became wealthy. With the money he stole he also got braces for his kids, and sent them to college.
He bought a really nice house and all of his neighbors love him!
It’s such a heartwarming story. We need more people like this guy in our country.
The guy admits to breaking U.S. immigration laws.
Regardless of how he was amnestied, did he have to plead guilty to his crime and get a record?
If so, how would he have gotten a DEA clearance to prescribe drugs? Every new MD has to do that.
If not, why not?
I have pointed this out before. One of the worst things about amnesties is that they don't just reward the criminal with U.S. citizenship or residency, they also get more than any citizen would get under some sort of pardon scheme: they never have to admit under oath what they did.
Which means that the next thing you know, you're staring into the face of a police officer who may have been a guy guilty of a laundry list of federal crimes.
Or maybe even a surgeon.
How much free surgery does he perform on Americans to pay back what he received as an ILLEGAL immigrant?
This story was in Readers Digest months ago and in my opinion, is designed to show how beneficial ILLEGALS are for Amercia.
One, out of how many millions?
Did he remain here to repay America? Or, stay to gain wealth?
Hey, I'll tell ya, the US ed system sucks so bad, it's profoundly typical for research labs to be 75% or more non-American.
MAAAAny research labs are 50%+ Chinese.
