Kids Stranded in Car After Mom's Arrest

North Carolina sheriff's deputies left the children of an arrested illegal immigrant woman on the side of a highway overnight stranded in a car, attorneys say.

Lawyers for Maria Chavira Ventura say she was stopped June 14 for a traffic violation along Interstate 85 in Alamance County, N.C. Deputies arrested her for driving without a license, leaving her three children, ages 14, 10 and 6, alone in the car with a man they barely knew, the Raleigh (N.C.) News & Observer reported Wednesday.

The man, a church acquaintance who was catching a ride with Ventura, abandoned the children in the car, where they stayed for eight hours before their father, also an illegal immigrant, arrived to rescue them, the newspaper said.

Lawyers with the North Carolina Justice Center told the News & Observer they are investigating the incident. Sheriff's Department officials said they handled Ventura's arrest according to their policies.

These people are just like our forefathers

LOL...have you got a list of gov't FREEBIES any of our forefathers received ??

check the link in # 28 for the "rest of this story".....

Apparently this good 'Mother' was driving from NC to MD with NO license, a forged plate on the car, & prolly NO INSURANCE, at 200AM......with her (she now claims) is a "stranger" (he also has no DL or any I.D.).....however BOTH the 'stranger" and the 14 year old have CELL PHONES.

If these kids were at "risk" the mother should also be charged with CHILD ENDANGERMENT...FOR PICKING UP "STRANGE' HITCHIKERS @ 2:00AM, with her kids in the car.

The last thing we need to do in this country is import poverty and hope that generations from now it will all go away. We have educated people waiting years to get the opportunity to come here. Proximity should not be the deciding factor for immigration.

Mexico is NOT a poor country. Perhaps if they protested there for their rights instead of on the streets of LA for rights in OUR country they could stay there and have a decent life.

The splitting us of families is just a manipulation technique. They made a choice that has put them in the situation they are in. If mom or dad goes, if they were such a close “family” it would be a no brainer that the family would want to stay together and they would go HOME as well.

But the pricks that put kids in that situation need to be....

for the 'rest of the story' check the link in #28...

Maybe this mother shouldn't be picking up 'strangers' @ 2:00AM.....& if the kids were @ risk, why didn't anyone use their CELL PHONES ?? (seems there were two in the car).

“If they are all deported tomorrow, problem solved.”

Problem is NEVER going to be solved until our borders are effectively secured. Until then, we are spinning our wheels deporting illegal aliens today, only for them to cross back over tomorrow.

These people are just like our forefathers and parents that all came from other places

Mine came here legally. That makes it different.

Mine didn't breed like rats and suck up social services for free. That makes it different.

Mine didn't hang around the Home Depot getting drunk and urinating in public pretending to look for work. That makes it different.

Mine learned the language. That makes it different.

I'm not seeing a whole lot of similarities here, how about you?

You do a very good job of describing some of the differences between an Immigrant and an Alien.

We should correct all who misuse the word Immigrant, because there are not nearly as many of those as some would have us believe.

When someone enters another country illegally, with no renunciation of his previous citizenship, with absolutely no intention of becoming a naturalized citizen of the destination country, intent on getting "stuff" without paying for it, then that individual is an Illegal Alien and a Thief.

He is not an Immigrant.

And, usually, such aliens are openly hypocritical in their demands and claims, since an American trying to abuse their country in the same way would be promptly jailed or deported. Mexico doesn't coddle illegals and make them equal to its citizens, but the USA is expected to.

Comparing illegal aliens to the honorable immigrants who built this great nation is disingenuous and dangerous.

Who put the "man they barely knew" in the car with her kids in the first place?

Their mom.

So why is it the cops' fault that they left the kids with this adult?

Bogus complaint. Stop whining, mom. Take your kids back to the country you legally live in, and if you want to come back to the US, do it the legal way.

Yes, and I'm sure if you saw a man and a woman with 3 kids in a car and the woman was the kids' mother, you would assume that the man was a stranger and not the father.

If I was a cop arresting the mother, I would assume nothing. I would seek to get evidence as to whether the guy in the car was a relative. If that evidence was not forthcoming, I would call child services to take custody of these kids until a relative could be located.

The fact that the mother is an illegal makes no difference in this situation.

I agree with you again that we should be taking the best and the brightest from around the world...which is the reason why we have been so successful over the years...Proximity to Mexico is unfortunately a real problem. Which is why you have a disproportionate amount of the average folk coming in from Mexico that we don’t see from other countries that due to the distance can not or are not willing to make the necessary sacrifices to come in.

Mexico is a poor country that is a poster child for the failed policy realities of communism and socialism that so many dems and euros are in love with. Just make a trip to El Paso and you can see the difference on the river between the USA and the 3rd world life of Mexico. The contrast is hard to ignore...The USA has been and will continue to be a safety pressure valve for not just Mexico, but for ALL the 3rd world failures. In most cases, the USA wins by getting the best and brightest from these failed counties..But in Mexico’s case, because they can just simply walk across the river, we are getting more of the poor and uneducated than we are used to from most immigrate populations..It really pisses me off, just like you when they come and demand rights that their own country will not give them and I agree it only serves to anger the rest of the country.

The splitting of families IS a reality...I live in Texas and see this happening more and more..even to people who are trying to get all the paperwork done properly, but missed some kind of form and are being punished severely and unfairly I believe...a good analogy would be to have your life in the hands of the local DMV.. I can see the point everyone is making..the only case I would like to make is that once they are here...ALL solutions are bad...The only way to keep these individual heartbreaks from happening is to not let it happen to begin with by a stronger border policy vs. what is existing now...

Its a hard issue....I would like to reasonable with people who’s only desire is to make a better live for themselves, while at the same time protecting the rights of all of us existing citizens...I hope you can understand my concerns.. Thanks

From another article:

[Alamance County Sheriff's Department spokesman Randy Jones] said the man, who had no identification or driver's license, had a cell phone and told the officer that help was on the way. The mother spoke very little English, so the officer had the teenage daughter ask her handcuffed mother whether she approved of them staying with the man, Jones said.

"The girl said something to the mother in Spanish," Jones said. "And the officer said the mother looked at him and nodded."

Would that be enough for you?

Evidence ?? apparently CB & others might conduct DNA tests on the side of the road......LOL

Few are willing to admit that illegals *might* lie, & most want nothing to do with any U.S. law enforcements.

Also the info from # 28 tells us that these kids Father & Uncle knew where these kids were & that they were alone.....yet they too, CHOSE to drive in from another state, rather than call ANY local LEO's.

As far as the cops knew, they were with an adult. How were they to know the adult was worthless?
