I don’t think any drilling can take place unless Congress also lifts the ban.

The ball is now in the Pelosi/Reid court.

Exactly-putting the ball in their court right before the elections.

“I don’t think any drilling can take place unless Congress also lifts the ban.”

That’s the beauty of this move. Congress called him on the Executive Order when President Bush called for drilling offshore. Now he is placing the ball squarely in Congress’ court. The public will not see Congress, even more, as an obstacle to lower fuel prices. Congress now has to “put up or shut up” on offshore drilling.

President Bush is backing Reid and Pelosi into a corner and with their 9% approval rating, it’s not going to be pretty.

I think he can issue an Executive Order to make it happen.

Might as well open up the coal in Utah that Clinton closed off for his Indonesian campaign-donatin' buddies also.

I like it when Bill's face turns that real purdy red color.

The Congressional Ban on offshore oil drilling expires at the end of September.

Might as well start sending in the thumpers to begin the seismic surveys because WE'RE GOING TO BE DRILLING!

And if Congress doesn’t go along and lift the ban at least the American people will know who and what they are voting for in November. There will be no excuses like “well, I didn’t know.”

Is that all we need? Does Congress have a say?
