I got this in an e-mail yesterday:

I'M FREE

Very sad news to wake up to. My heartfelt prayers and condolences go out to his wife, kids and other family at this sad, sad time. Tony was a good guy, taken from his family way too soon.

Rest in peace, Tony. You will be sorely missed by all who you have touched with your kindness and great wit.

What a shock ... particularly because he was so young. In his short tenure as Press Secretary, he established himself as one of the very best ever. He was most effective at explaining policy and parrying ridiculous questions from the left-wing press.

What horrible news to wake up to. He was by far my favorite Fox host and even though I didn’t really get to watch his press conferences regularly, I loved the clips that got posted here. His smackdowns of David Gregory bring a smile to my face during this sad time.

There hasn’t been one like him before or since. I’ll miss having a man of principle in a position such as his. What a fine, positive person who believed in America and in conservatism. God bless him, his family, and all of us who have lost a friend, whether we met him or not.
