83 % Say Getting Immigrants To Speak English Is Higher Priority Than Creating Bilingual America

Scott Rasmussen points to these striking results:
Barack Obama said yesterday that "instead of worrying whether immigrants can learn English," Americans "need to make sure your child can speak Spanish." A national telephone survey conducted last month by Rasmussen Reports found that U.S. voters overwhelmingly disagree with the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee.
Eighty-three percent (83%) place a higher priority on encouraging immigrants to speak English...
... A reader noted this is among the pieces of information that voters in Ohio, Pennsylvania and MIchigan need to hear before they make their decision in November.

It ain't rocket science. If you know English you can communicate with anyone in America and a darned big chunk of the rest of the world. Once you've learned English knock yourself out and learn all the other languages you want to.
Obama is a complete dork to say "we have no problem with immigrants learning English." It wouldn't be an issue and there wouldn't be any "English First" legislation proposed if it weren't a problem. Pee Wee Herman has more gravitas than this jackass.

Suzi - bless you and your family. Well said, the difference between then and now. I believe it’s about love for this country, commitment and loyalty to it. And that separates good people like your predecessors from so many now (ILLEGALS in particular) who don’t have those feelings of patriotism.

Just make sure that the Official language is English”
And yes, this is my point as well - Obama was dead wrong in his speech when he falsely stated that Americans “want English only”. How stupid - no, of course not. We just want the Official Language of our country to be English.
Why is everything like this such a problem here? Not in any other country. Pretty much all countries have an “official language”.

“Obama is actually worse than McCain on the issue of illegal immigration.”
Amnesty is amnesty, no matter who it is pulling the trigger on America. Drivers licenses? LOL, since when are drivers licenses the perview of the POTUS?

With comments this dumb already he may not even make it to the convention. Is it possible that Super Pimp is just a stalking horse for Hillary? McCain and the RNC will spend all this time shadow boxing Obama and dropping all research and opposition to the Hildebeast. Obama exposes himself to be a complete lightweight and Hillary takes the nomination at the convention. No big slight to Obama in the long run he just wasn't ready. Maybe after Hill's eight.

I wouldn’t move to France and expect everyone to start speaking English. Even if I only planned visiting another country, I would at least try to learn a few basic phrases in the native language.

“The thing is, he makes dumb comments like this almost daily, yet they dont care or seem to notice. Lots of koolaid been served out there, for quite some time. Still...he just may majorly f**k up yet. I havent given up hope.”
I do find that very disturbing as well. It’s as if people so want to be hypnotized by this man, that they willingly suspend what their eyes and ears could tell them. Drink the Kool-Aid and we will be delivered into the promised land. And many did drink, not realizing that the Kool-Aid is a Kavorkian Cocktail. Problem is, these folks just plain don’t want to notice. A magician uses misdirection as a means of directing his audience to see what he wants them to see. And people are mesmerized by magic when performed by a master magician. I have to admit Obama is very good. Too bad so many of the young folk have no history other than what they may have read in a book or were taught in school. I think maybe people don’t want to wake up because they are enjoying the dream too much.

We should do all we can to accommodate tourists and those visiting this beautiful country with respect to language. Yet, before a citizen of another country is even considered for immigration here; speaking English should be a prerequisite.
Illegals need to go home, period. Immigration numbers should be lowered to 200k a year, but that is another issue altogether. Yeah, I know, America was built on immigration. Built is past tense, and everyone can’t live here.

Immigration quotas were changed years ago. The Liberals have been working hard to deny Europeans. Review all immigration acts since 1965.

"Barack Obama said yesterday that "instead of worrying whether immigrants can learn English," Americans "need to make sure your child can speak Spanish."
Memo to snobama-messiah: STHU and kiss my cold instant grits. I'll learn Spanish the day hell freezes over. If these illegal alien invaders and their La Raza cohorts don't want to learn English and become American, they should get the hell out. Other immigrant groups from way back came to the USA and wanted to become Americans, learn English and were damn proud and happy to do so! Its been the invasion of south of the border type and their La Raza enablers who refuse to learn English, become American citizens like every other immigrant group, and force their culture and language down our throats that cause all the problems. Let them come here legally, learn English, and become American like every other immigrant group that has come to the USA since 1776 or they can STHU, GTHO, and take La Raza and all the other radical "avocacy" groups out with them!

McCain doesn't need to support drivers licenses for Illegal Aliens because when he's finished with his “comprehensive immigration reform” there will no longer be any such thing as an Illegal Alien.
