Scott Rasmussen points to these striking results:
Barack Obama said yesterday that "instead of worrying whether immigrants can learn English," Americans "need to make sure your child can speak Spanish." A national telephone survey conducted last month by Rasmussen Reports found that U.S. voters overwhelmingly disagree with the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee.
Eighty-three percent (83%) place a higher priority on encouraging immigrants to speak English...
... A reader noted this is among the pieces of information that voters in Ohio, Pennsylvania and MIchigan need to hear before they make their decision in November.

We are tired of hearing him berating those who place a high value on gun ownership, religion and speaking English.
We are tired of him berating those who adhere to values like this as - as Obama puts it - clinging to God, guns and now English.
What say you?
17% of the responders are illegal immigrants who can’t speak English or are too stupid to understand the question. I guess that sounds about right.
Obama clings to berating America on God, guns and putting English first.
I say it applies to both chumps. Quit attempting to turn the U.S. into a 3rd world s^*thole for a stake in the voting block pander lottery.
I should remember to send him a thank you note.
With comments this dumb already he may not even make it to the convention. Whoever thought a conservative couldn't win against a moron like this should be taken out and horsewhipped.
Spot on!
Obama needs to run for office in Europe. That’s where his heart is. That’s where his socialist ideas fit best.
Obama is actually worse than McCain on the issue of illegal immigration.
While both supported the Amnesty Bill, Obama is for 1.) this crap and 2.) supports drivers licensees for illegals.
McCain is not for 1 or 2.
my apartment manager’s husband is the maintenance man.
he cannot understand or speak enough english to do his job efficiently.
I am sick and tired of having to state my language when I call any 800 number.
Too bad that no conservative is running this year...
What’s McCain’s position on English first? Other than praising hispanics the other day for speaking Spanish in Arizona first.
______
Today, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) launched a Spanish-language campaign website, greeting voters with, Bienvenido! Estamos Unidos con McCain (Welcome! We are united with McCain):
This new website comes despite the fact that McCain voted in 2006 for Sen. James Inhofes (R-OK) amendment to declare English as the national language of the United States and to promote the patriotic integration of prospective US citizens. In March, McCain skipped a vote on an amendment by Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN), aimed at blocking lawsuits by employees challenging English-only workplace rules. Both Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) and Barack Obama (D-IL) voted against the measure, but McCain left Washington to attend a fundraiser.

He’s NOT presidential material.

The main issue for making English the official language of the US is that right now nothing stops legal proceedings from being conducted in another language. We could find, for example, that some small town located near the Mexican border and with a majority of Spanish-speaking residents could pass laws in Spanish (or some local Mexican Indian dialect). They could hold court in that same language. So, English speakers would just be screwed.
AFAIC, people are free to conduct their personal and private business in any language they please. Just make English official, so we have a common language base for government functions.
What say I?
Bese mi asno, obama.
I want him to sound as outrageous as he possibly can.
