Dreams From His Grandmother (VDH on target as usual)

I think we are beginning to see the full measure of the Obama general campaign strategy, framed along ten or so key directives that can allow the election of the most leftward candidate in American political history.

So far the candidate himself needs no coaching, inasmuch he has proved to be one of the most pragmatic, flexible, and ambitious figures in recent memory, with superb handlers who understand the challenge of getting such a hard leftist past the suspicious American electorate.

1. “Maturing” Views. Move to the center on as many problematic issues as possible — whether FISA, NAFTA, talking to dictators, the death penalty, etc. Disguise blatant flip-flops by talking about McCain’s changes of heart — such as his opposition to tax cuts eight years ago. And just as dreams of Obama’s father were once essential in cementing his questionable racial bona fides in Chicago, now the thing to do is drop most mention of the African connection, and instead resurrect his grandparents as proof of his more influential midwestern, working-class Americana credentials. Think “Dreams from My Grandmother.”

As usual, VDH is right on target with his analysis. Obama is a brand, not a candidate. he is being packaged and sold to the clueless American people like a Big Mac and Fries. His people will keep him hidden away as much as possible and the only time we will see him is when he is in front of the teleprompter, giving a speech he has rehearsed beforehand. The MSM know this, but they are so desperate for a liberal to recxapture the White House, they don't care. They will cover for his gaffes ,accentuate McCains, and act as an advertising arm for Brand Obama.

You’ve obviously been seeing Obama’s current crop of commercials as well. I spotted that IMMEDIATELY. All of a sudden he’s not ‘African-American’ anymore; he’s just ‘boring old American.’

My standard addition to any Obama post:

Here’s all any Conservative needs to know about Barrack Hussein Obama:

Special Interest Group Ratings:

Planned Parenthood - 100% Support
National Right To Life - 0% Support
NARAL - 100% Support
Americans for Tax Reform - 0% Support
ACLU - 83% Support
NEA - 100% Support
NOW Hags - 100% Support
Citizens Against Government Waste - 13% Support
Gun Owners of America - 0% Support
NRA - “F” Rating
Federation for American Immigration Reform - 0% Support
US Border Patrol - 8% Support
Unions - 82% - 100% Support
Population Connection - 100% Support (These are the ‘Zero Growth’ freaks)

[Barrack Hussein Obama’s record in the Illinois senate:]

- Opposed the Defense of Marriage Act; would work to repeal it in the U.S. Senate; would not vote for any legislation that would restrict the ability of gays and lesbians to marry.
- Opposed the Born Alive Infant Protection Act four times in Illinois. A similar bill passed the U.S. Senate 98-0. The Born Alive bill would have prohibited a baby from being born alive but left to die according to the mother’s wishes. Obama inexplicably opposed this bill not once, twice, or three times, but four times.
- Obama took almost $90,000 in bundled contributions from the Council for a Livable World. The council is a well-known anti-defense organization.
- Obama puts rigid ideology before what’s best for the people of Illinois, and presumably he would do that as President as well. He has on several occasions made public his opposition to the NAFTA trade agreement and his belief that it must be negotiated. All the while thanks to NAFTA, Illinois exports $1.3 billion in agricultural goods to Canada.
- Obama refused to vote for a bill in the Illinois State Senate that would have increased penalties for drug traffickers.
- Obama voted against a bill that would have delivered the death penalty to gang members who murder first responders.
- Finally, just in case you thought it couldn’t get any worse, Obama was the only member of the Illinois State Senate to vote against a bill that prohibited early release for sexual predators.

Can’t kill the innocent fast enough, can’t free the guilty soon enough!

Yes, that's fine.

But you had better start working on what the 70% of voters who are NOT conservatives need to know, or else he's going to win.

He’ll crash and burn before November. Hillary’s not finished with him yet. ;)

And yes, I DO work locally. And I WILL be campaigning for McCain, and I WILL be a Poll Worker at my Town Hall, as always. :)

If Obama is a 'brand' the marketeers picked the worst possible name for their brand. Barack Hussein Obama.

Nobody who is not already committed to vote against Obama cares about the gay crap.

Find another issue.

"Obama is a brand, not a candidate."

I absolutely agree with you.

But, the same can be said of McCain.

Saw a great T-Shirt yesterday. Showed two side-by-side pictures — one of Osama in traditional garb and one of Obama in that Sudanese(?) outfit. Below it were the words, “The difference between Obama and Osama is a little B/S.”

Gotta get one of those, just to agitate the lefties if nothing else.

“...now the thing to do is drop most mention of the African connection, and instead resurrect his grandparents as proof of his more influential midwestern, working-class Americana credentials. Think “Dreams from My Grandmother.”

On that note, a major theme of Dreams from my Father is running away from and repudiating “middleclassness” and the White world his mother’s side of the family represented, and fully embracing a Black world of oppression by Whites, colonialism, etc.

Just to make that clear for those who haven’t read his words.

I have been trying mightily to get one Chicago Sun-Times columnist - Carol Marin - to take up the challenge of vetting Obama. So far, she has ignored me. But, I keep sending materials to her, hoping that she may take an honest look before it’s too late for us all.

I suggest we all select a reporter or columnist -influential or not - from our local paper and send materials found in the non-mainstream media on Obama. Maybe - just maybe - we will begin something somewhere.

Obama is being lauded for workng through the grassroots. It’s time we muster FreeRepublic - in defense of the Republic. We helped stop Kerry in 2004, but Obama and friends are a far greater threat than Kerry ever was.

Who’s going to step up with me????
