He was too liberal for me but was very cordial when he and Coulter appeared on Leno. I thank him for that. RIP.

Flammable, inflammable & nonflammable... Why are there three? Don't you think that two ought to serve the purpose? I mean either the thing flams or it doesn't!

George. The eternal optimist:
"I look at it this way... For centuries now, man has done everything he can to destroy, defile, and interfere with nature: clear-cutting forests, strip-mining mountains, poisoning the atmosphere, over-fishing the oceans, polluting the rivers and lakes, destroying wetlands and aquifers... so when nature strikes back, and smacks him on the head and kicks him in the nuts, I enjoy that. I have absolutely no sympathy for human beings whatsoever. None. And no matter what kind of problem humans are facing, whether it's natural or man-made, I always hope it gets worse."

Sad. The last time I saw him, he had gone from biting humor to bitter old man. Just not funny anymore.

I'll never forget seeing Carlin in concert about twenty years ago. His opening monologue was one of the most vile, tasteless, angry, nasty, offensive, anti-religious atheistic screeds I'd ever heard in my life, even by Carlin's standards. I almost got up and walked out, but my Wife grabbed me by the arm and convinced me to stay. The rest of the show was hilarious, but I would never forgive him for some of the horrible things he said about God and Christians.
RIP, George. You had a unique gift that was too often perverted by hate. I hope you had time to make peace with God.

I think we should all be a little careful (actually a lot careful) assuming either way where George Carlin is in the hereafter. Carlin’s death has certainly brought out the worst in people here on this thread. His early and middle career was brilliant, but later in life he was a bitter (and just plain hateful) old man. He was actually at his worst (comically) when he was political. He simply wasn’t funny at those times and ended up coming off like a kook. That being said, I’ll pray for the repose of his soul (and for peace to be with his family).

At any rate I'll pray for him, he needs all the help he can get.

He did a ‘looking in the refrigerator’ routine that I wish I could hear again.
“What is this green stuff”
Wife: “What does it look like?”
“Meat cake”
He did a routine on the Carson Show no other comedian could have done.
He came out on stage and just stared at the audience, it seemed like five minutes, using just his face he brought down the house.

Wonder what ‘Ol George said today when he saw that “Invisible Man”?????????????????

George Carlin was a very funny and creative man who, when he wasn’t pi**ing me off with his political stances, had a tendency to make me laugh until soda came out of places it shouldn’t ever. The notoriety he earned as a result of the Seven Dirty Words routine sometimes obscured the fact that Mr.Carlin was a gifted linguist with a fine ear for the cultural peculiarities of language, as well as the larger peculiarities of culture. RIP.
